On the morning of October 18th, the International University (a member of the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) collaborated with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training to organize the 3rd "Sustainable Society Building Initiative" competition, with the participation of 16 teams from junior and senior high schools in Ho Chi Minh City and the southern provinces.

Middle school students present their project "Automatic Waste Sorting Bin".
In this competition, participating teams will research an environmental issue or a problem affecting the sustainable development of their community, both currently occurring in their living and learning environment, and propose practical solutions to improve the situation, under the theme "For a Green and Sustainable Community".
This year, the projects will be submitted in teams of 4-6 members, including 3-5 students and 1 teacher acting as an advisor to support them throughout the process.
In the final round, the competing teams presented their projects and answered questions from the organizers.
Representatives from the International University stated that through this competition, they hope students will develop innovative thinking and raise awareness of environmental and social issues in the areas where they live and study.
Due to the larger number of participating teams compared to previous years, this year's competition awarded 2 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes, 4 consolation prizes, 6 promising project awards, and 2 audience-voted favorite project awards for the top 8 finalists.
The "Sustainable Society Building Initiative" is organized with the aim of continuing to create a healthy and beneficial playground to promote interaction and connection among students from different grades in educational institutions, creating an environment that helps students access more information about sustainable development education and useful knowledge related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. In particular, the competition focuses on environmental issues, thereby providing a perspective on solving problems that students face in their learning environment in a more feasible and effective way.
