Verifying information 'principal directed to change students' scores from poor to good'

On October 18, the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province said that he had assigned a specialized unit to verify information that the Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School (Ha Lam ward) directed teachers to change students' scores from poor to excellent.

This person said that the Department has just received information through social networks and is clarifying. If any violations are discovered, they will be strictly handled according to regulations.

The Department of Education and Training of Quang Ninh province is verifying and clarifying information that the leaders of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School, Ha Lam ward, directed the change of students' scores from poor to excellent.

Previously, social networks spread information that the Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School (Ha Lam Ward, Quang Ninh) was accused of directing the correction of semester exam scores on the electronic transcript system for a female student who is said to be the daughter of a Ha Lam Ward official, causing her academic results to "suddenly" increase from poor to excellent.

According to the report, parents provided authorities with images of text messages said to be instructions from school leaders, asking teachers to correct scores in many subjects such as Math, Natural Sciences , Information Technology and English.

Notably, in the semester exam for IT and English, the original score was 4 but was changed to 8 in the system, equivalent to excellent level.

The initial inspection results of the People's Committee of Ha Lam Ward showed that there were shortcomings and violations by a number of cadres and party members of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School; the violations occurred in the 2024-2025 school year. Currently, the ward is organizing a review to clarify the responsibilities of related individuals.

Previously, on the afternoon of October 15, the People's Committee of Ha Lam ward held a conference to announce the decision to arrange schools and decide on the work of school staff in the ward.
Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School merged with Cao Thang Secondary School, the secondary level of Ha Trung Primary and Secondary School to form a new school still named Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School.
The accused is Ms. Do Thi Ngoc Lan, former Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School, currently holding the position of Vice Principal of Nguyen Van Thuoc Secondary School after the merger.
Responding to a reporter from VTC News Electronic Newspaper about the information about being accused of directing students' scores to be changed, Ms. Ngoc Lan said that she is also "checking again" so she will respond later, because currently "she does not know the information yet".
