Literature is the first subject in the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6 and 7.
This is the first exam to be conducted according to the 2018 GeneralEducation Program with many changes in structure and test format.

According to the exam schedule of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City for this exam, the bag containing the exam papers will be opened at 7:30. The invigilator will distribute the exam papers at 7:55 and the candidates will start taking the exam at 8:00.
The literature test lasts 120 minutes and you will officially finish the test at 10 o'clock.
According to the announcement of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year's essay test consists of 2 parts. Part 1: Reading and understanding literary texts and writing paragraphs; Part 2: Reading and understanding argumentative or informational texts and writing social argumentative essays. Both parts have the same score scale.
For the reading comprehension section, the source of quotations will be non-textbook material. The test will have two passages of material instead of one as before, including a literary text and one of two types of argumentative or informative text.
The total length of the test materials must not exceed 1,300 words.
In the writing section, there will be a paragraph (about 200 words), with one of two requirements to be met: writing a paragraph recording feelings about a poem or a poem passage; writing a paragraph analyzing the content, the unique features of the work's artistic form and its aesthetic effect.
Writing an essay. One of the two requirements is to write an argumentative essay on a life issue, clearly presenting the issue and the writer's opinion (agreeing or disagreeing) on that issue; presenting convincing arguments and evidence; writing an argumentative essay on a problem that needs to be solved; presenting a feasible and convincing solution.
When the signal for the end of the 10th grade exam is given, you must stop working immediately and keep the exam papers. When submitting the exam papers, you must clearly state the number of exam papers submitted and sign the confirmation on the 2 exam receipts; candidates who cannot complete the exam must also submit the exam papers.
Candidates are allowed to leave the examination room after 2/3 of the examination time and must submit their answers, test papers and scratch paper before leaving the examination room and examination area.
In case a student must temporarily leave the examination room, the examination room supervisor must notify the exam supervisor to coordinate implementation.
After the literature subject, this afternoon candidates will take the foreign language test with a 90-minute test time.

The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City 10th grade entrance exam has more than 76,000 candidates registered. Meanwhile, the total target is more than 70,000 students, the admission rate is about 92%.
If we calculate the number of candidates participating and the quota, there will only be about 6,000 candidates failing this exam, the lowest number in Ho Chi Minh City in many years.
