On the morning of May 24, the graduation ceremony of more than 800 grade 12 students at Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted began with a high-five from juniors to seniors. The event also saw the reunion of many former students who came to share the joy of graduation.
Class 12CTR-N holds last memories at the nearly 100-year-old school before starting a 15-minute flashmob dance.
Hand in hand, students from different classes excitedly joined in the emotions at the graduation ceremony.
After 2 months of practice at the end of each class, Le Hong Phong students performed flashmobs of solo and duo dances and group singing, creating many beautiful moments for their teachers, friends and the school that has accompanied them for the past 3 years. This is also the key activity in the graduation ceremony, bringing many emotions not only to the students in the school but also to all those who have been and are currently in school.
The highlight of the performance was the “scepter” shaped like a moon embracing the sun, decorated with blue-pink-yellow colors designed and produced by the school’s students themselves, with more than 800 made over many months.
Nguyen Doan Ngoc Phuc, class 12D2, said the idea of the "scepter" came from the fact that his generation plays a transitional role, as the 2021-2024 school year is the last year the school keeps the old uniform and studies the old generaleducation program. "The scepter has 4 parts, with the blue handle symbolizing the 'launching pad' of the previous seniors, the pink crescent moon to describe us - a generation lacking many activities and always suffering from prejudice from people outside the school, the yellow sun in the middle symbolizing the juniors, and finally the special blue fabric layer when brought out in the sun will show a pink shadow - which is also our color. It can be said that the 'scepter' represents both our wishes and ambitions, and is also a thank you and encouragement that we want to send to our seniors and juniors," Phuc confided.

Hundreds of students participated in the game, “Fold one finger down if you love your uniform. Fold one finger down if you have at least one close friend or a group of close friends at Le Hong Phong. Fold one finger down if you are not ready to be called an alumnus. Fold one finger down if you still have many words to say to the people here... And tomorrow, whoever is still a student at Le Hong Phong, fold one finger down”
One of the activities that brings tears to the eyes of the final year students is giving ribbons. “The red ribbon is for the person you want to thank the most, the dark blue ribbon is for an apology, the yellow ribbon is for the person who made you laugh the most in the past 3 years, and the clear blue ribbon is to thank yourself for always trying your best. As for the pink ribbon, this is for the friend you don’t want to leave the most at Le Hong Phong High School,” a female student explained.
Tears rolled down, tight hugs replaced the words, "Don't want to leave", and also replaced the farewell to the 18 years of youth that have passed.
In the soothing music, close friends encouraged each other, sharing their regrets as the graduation ceremony approached its final moments.

Not only are there tears of regret, the graduation ceremony is also an opportunity for senior students to laugh their hearts out, recording beautiful memories to look back on in the future.
“Today at the graduation ceremony, each of us wore a veil and bow tie to perform a flashmob. For us, the past 1,000 days at Le Hong Phong High School have always been happy and we hope that the whole class will always be a family, always in harmony and never forgetting each other. I wish everyone will always be successful on the journey they have chosen,” Truong Tran Gia Huy, class 12CP-SN, confided about the class’s unique accessory.
Holding a bright red scarf that matches the color of her class uniform, Mai Khoi, 12TH2, shared that she was shocked when she learned years ago that she was the last generation to wear the signature blue gym uniform of Le Hong Phong High School. “Not to mention, we also had to face a lot of doubts because we were selected based on our academic records. But up to now, it can be seen that all of us have left our own mark. In the future, I hope you will always be determined to achieve what you want,” the female student expressed.
Interspersed with quiet moments, many students also sought out teachers they respected and admired to ask for encouragement for the long journey ahead. Not to mention, each student’s white shirt was covered with signatures and wishes, just like the boundless friendship they had for each other.
Hoang Thi Yen, class 12A, Head of the organizing committee, said that the program had been planned and prepared since the summer of 2023 with the participation of nearly 100 students from all grades, divided into 5 different groups: program, communication, technical design, logistics administration and arts. Yen said that although she was sad and disappointed to be called the "admission generation", she and her peers always considered doubts as motivation to improve and advance, both in academics and extracurricular activities. "I hope that wherever you are, you will always be proud of being a Le Hong Phong specialized student. I wish you will always be successful and happy," Yen told the 2021-2024 generation.
The graduation ceremony is part of the traditional program for grade 12 organized by students of Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted. It has now marked 16 years of operation and has become a premise for other high schools in Ho Chi Minh City to join in. In addition to the graduation ceremony, the program also organizes a series of events throughout the school year to preserve memorable memories of senior students such as exam support and student exhibitions.
Tomorrow (May 25), Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted will continue to organize a gratitude and maturity ceremony exclusively for senior students with the participation of teachers and parents.
