First meeting: Standing Office of Cao Bang province (Vietnam) and inter-sectoral working group of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China) on exploiting tourism resources of Ban Gioc waterfall (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China)

On December 26, 2017, the delegation of the Standing Office of Cao Bang, led by Mr. Le Hai Hoa - Chief of the Standing Office, Chief of the Office of the People's Committee of Cao Bang province, and the delegation of the Inter-sectoral Working Group of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region led by Mr. Lam Tan Ha - Head of the Inter-sectoral Working Group, Deputy Head of the Tourism Development Committee of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, held the first meeting to discuss issues related to the implementation of the Agreement on protection and exploitation of tourism resources of Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) - Detian (China) between the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Government of the People's Republic of China.

Overview of the meeting

At the meeting, the Head of the delegation from Cao Bang province informed the situation of the implementation of the landscape construction of the Vietnamese side in the past time. At the same time, he proposed specific issues such as: Building a fence around the landscape area; managing entry and exit to the landscape area; documents for entry and exit to the landscape area; testing the cross-border movement of the landscape area, and other related issues such as environmental protection, ecology downstream of Ban Gioc waterfall, management and use of wharves and rafts at the foot of the waterfall, plans to build a border trade center and build a symbol of Vietnam - China friendship and cooperation in the landscape area...

Guangxi (China) basically agrees with the opinions and proposals put forward by Cao Bang province; Guangxi also requested Vietnam to build specific tourist routes, sightseeing spots, tourist attractions, dining spots, and means of transportation for tourists in the Scenic Area....

In an atmosphere of friendly cooperation, the two sides exchanged and discussed in detail a number of issues that need to be reached in common understanding to implement the Agreement and jointly signed the minutes of the first meeting.

Previously, on December 25, representatives of the Standing Office of Cao Bang province and the Interdisciplinary Working Group of Guangxi coordinated to survey the Ban Gioc - Duc Thien Waterfall Landscape Area on both sides.
