The ceremony took place in a solemn atmosphere with the participation of representatives of the Special Task Force of the Lao Government, Champasak, Sekong and Attapeu provinces of Laos; representatives of the Special Task Force of Kon Tum province of Vietnam; Department of Policy, General Department of Politics, Lao Ministry of National Defense ; representatives of Champasak provincial government; Association of Vietnamese people in Champasak province. The delegation of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Pakse led by Consul General Ta Phuong Dung attended the ceremony.

Implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the Special Task Force of the Government of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Special Task Force of the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Special Task Force of Kon Tum province and the Special Task Force of Champasak, Sekong and Attapeu provinces on continuing the search, recovery and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Laos, the Special Task Force of Kon Tum province coordinated with the Special Task Force of Champasak, Sekong and Attapeu provinces to search for and collect 16 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos during the dry season of 2024-2025.
Of these, 4 sets of martyrs' remains were found in Champasak province and 12 sets of martyrs' remains were found in Attapeu province. The identities of the 16 sets of martyrs' remains have not been determined.
At the ceremony, delegates respectfully offered flowers in memory, expressing their gratitude and deep appreciation to the martyrs who heroically sacrificed for their noble international duty and the country's revolutionary cause.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Deputy Governor and Head of the Special Working Group of Champasak Province, representing the local government, emphasized that the ceremony is of great significance to the people of the two countries in inheriting, preserving, promoting and nurturing the long-standing tradition of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.
Comrade Y Ngoc, Standing Vice Chairman of Kon Tum province, Head of the Special Task Force of Kon Tum province, expressed his deep gratitude to the leaders and people of Champasak, Attapeu and Sekong provinces for their enthusiastic help and coordination with the Vietnamese side in the search, collection and repatriation of the remains of martyrs who were Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in the 2024-2025 dry season.
He emphasized that Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts, together with the armed forces of the Lao ethnic groups, have achieved many glorious feats, making worthy contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the two Parties, two States, and two people's armies of the two countries, as praised by the leaders of the Lao Party, State and People: "In Laos, there is no place without the footprints of the Vietnamese army, there is no victory without the sacrifices and contributions of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers."
At the end of the ceremony, representatives of Kon Tum and Champasak provinces signed the handover minutes and sent the remains of 16 martyrs back to Vietnam for a memorial service and burial in their motherland, Vietnam.

The activity of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains is a sacred activity, demonstrating the tradition of remembering the source of water when drinking water, showing gratitude, respect, gratitude and deep remembrance of the great contributions of heroic martyrs; contributingto educating the revolutionary and patriotic traditions of the people of the two countries, especially the young generation, about the tradition of great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos.
