Attending at the Binh Thuan provincial bridge were representatives of leaders of departments, branches, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province; comrades who are members of the Executive Committee of the Provincial Elderly Association.
At the ceremony, delegates reviewed the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Elderly Association and the 84th anniversary of the Vietnam Elderly Traditional Day.
Over the past 84 years, the elderly nationwide, regardless of the circumstances, have always followed the Party and Uncle Ho, and remained absolutely loyal to the revolutionary cause led by the Party; encouraged their descendants to fight the enemy to defend the country, and build the country to become "more dignified and more beautiful". The Vietnam Association of the Elderly was established in 1995, and has undergone 30 years of formation and development, becoming an organization representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly nationwide. With its outstanding achievements, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly has been awarded many medals and other noble prizes by the Party and the State.
Currently, the country has more than 7 million elderly people who are entrepreneurs, businesses, owners of production and business establishments, participating in economic development, making effective and practical contributions to the development of the country, creating jobs for about 9 million elderly people and the community, many elderly people are honored as Labor Heroes in the renovation period. There are nearly 1.3 million people directly participating in building the grassroots political system; thousands of elderly people are elite intellectuals in research and training establishments, holding high positions in Party and State agencies, etc.
In Binh Thuan province, the Elderly Association at all levels has increasingly developed strongly in terms of organization, gathering a large number of elderly people to participate in patriotic emulation activities and movements. Currently, the Provincial Elderly Association has 121 grassroots associations, 696 branches, 2,820 association groups with 100,000 members. The whole province currently has over 28,500 elderly people directly participating in production, of which 790 elderly people are owners of farms and production and business establishments, and 2,042 elderly people are good at economics . Through emulation movements and campaigns, many examples of "old age, bright examples" have appeared in the Provincial Elderly Association at all levels...
Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Do Van Chien - Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements of the Association of the Elderly at all levels in recent years. At the same time, he requested that Party committees, authorities, organizations, and the Association of the Elderly from the central to grassroots levels continue to thoroughly grasp the consistent viewpoint of our Party and State, identifying the elderly as an important political and social force in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; caring for and promoting the role of the elderly is the responsibility of the Party, State, society and family.
In the coming time, the Association of the Elderly needs to proactively arrange and consolidate the organization in the direction of streamlining, operating effectively and efficiently according to the 2-level local government model and being an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; closely following the grassroots and residential areas to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, grasp the aspirations of members, propagate and encourage children and grandchildren to agree, support, and voluntarily implement all Party guidelines and policies, State laws, etc.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the Party and State and launched the humanitarian program "Bright Eyes for the Elderly".
