At the workshop, leading experts on mineral water in Vietnam presented and discussed enthusiastically about the potential of mineral water and natural hot water in Vietnam, regulations on exploration, classification of reserves and methods, volume of work on mineral water and natural hot water exploration as well as orientations for exploitation and use of mineral water and natural hot water. The highlight was the presentation on the potential for exploiting Ngoc Son hot mineral water source (Bao Yen commune, Thanh Thuy district). According to research data, this water source was discovered in 1982 by Geological Group 303 with large reserves (level B: 704 m3/day, level C1: 366 m3/day). The water source has a stable temperature from 38.9 to 39.1 degrees Celsius, with a high mineral content.
Overview of the workshop
In particular, with a Radon concentration 4-6 times higher than the international standard, Thanh Thuy Radon natural hot spring becomes a valuable resource, opening the door to the world of quintessential and complete health care. Although discovered later, Thanh Thuy Radon natural hot spring, Phu Tho, Vietnam is superior with many survey points having a concentration of up to 5.89 nCi/l, higher than the Radon mineral water standard of European countries (standard up to 5 nCi/l), demonstrating the precious value of Thanh Thuy hot spring.
Experts and scientists present papers.
In addition, experts also shared experiences in effectively exploiting Dakmil Carbonic mineral water in disease treatment, introducing research on natural mineral mud and its application in resort tourism. According to many delegates, tourism products associated with mineral baths, mud baths, and therapies are a strong development trend in many countries and are a great potential for Vietnam.
Delegates attending the workshop
Sharing at the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Lam - Chairman of the Vietnam Hydrogeological Association said: Currently, Vietnam has discovered more than 400 mineral water and hot water sources distributed in 58 provinces and cities. As of 2017, 239/400 natural mineral water and hot water sources have been exploited and used. Of which, 67 sources are licensed by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, 34 sources are licensed by the People's Committees of provinces, 11 sources are applying for permission and 127 sources are spontaneously exploited (mainly for drinking, bathing, bottling and relaxation).
Hot mineral water has high value in human health care.
The workshop is also an opportunity for localities, tourism businesses, and investors to access updated scientific information on hot mineral resources, thereby building plans, attracting investment, and developing sustainable health tourism. In particular, Thanh Thuy district, with its natural advantages and increasingly synchronously invested tourism infrastructure, is expected to become the leading hot mineral health tourism center in the Northern region.
