National Workshop “Women in implementing education and protecting human rights”

On the morning of July 20, in Ha Giang Ward 1, Tuyen Quang Province, the Academy of Finance organized a national workshop on “Women in implementing education and protecting human rights”. Co-chairs of the workshop were: Associate Professor, Dr. Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Dao Tung, Director of the Academy of Finance; Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Manh Thieu, Deputy Director of the Academy of Finance; Associate Professor, Dr. Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Ho Phi Ha, Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of the Academy of Finance.

Attending the workshop were Mr. Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province; leaders of a number of provincial departments and branches. Scientists from research and training institutions, management agencies and social organizations.

The workshop is an important scientific forum to assess the role of women in the education process and promote human rights in Vietnam.

Associate Professor, Dr. Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Dao Tung, Director of the Academy of Finance, presented the Academy's logo to Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phan Huy Ngoc.

At the workshop, delegates presented and discussed prominent topics such as: philosophical thoughts on social justice for women and its application in Vietnam today; some theoretical and practical issues on human rights education in Vietnam; the role of women in human rights education and protection; comparison of human rights laws in Vietnam and some Southeast Asian countries; the ecosystem of human rights education and the role of women: international experience and policy implications; the role of female lecturers; the flame of knowledge and the humane heart in human rights education in Vietnam; orientation, goals and solutions to enhance the role of ethnic minority women in protecting human rights in Tuyen Quang province.

Associate Professor, Dr. Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Dao Tung, Director of the Academy of Finance chaired the discussion at the workshop.

Delegates also made many recommendations to promote the role of women, such as: developing human rights education programs that integrate gender and the active participation of women as teachers, managers and policy makers; increasing investment in policies to support women in disadvantaged areas and ethnic minorities; encouraging women's participation in forums, organizations and social networks on human rights and human rights education; promoting interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research on gender and human rights in the educational environment.

The workshop is a practical activity to raise social awareness about the importance of women in protecting and promoting human rights, especially in the field of education, where women are increasingly asserting their role in leading, inspiring and building a fair and progressive society.
