Hojlund was removed from MU's squad for the match against Arsenal

According to The Athletic, Rasmus Hojlund will not be on MU's roster for the Premier League opener against Arsenal on the evening of August 17.

Hojlund has no future at MU.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added: "The relationship between Hojlund and MU has ended. Hojlund is not in the squad to play against Arsenal because MU sent a message asking the player to leave. Hojlund will consider options for the future."

Hojlund's future at Old Trafford has been thrown into doubt after United spent £73.7m to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The 22-year-old Danish striker has attracted interest from AC Milan and RB Leipzig, but has so far insisted he wants to stay and fight for his place.

In the final pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, Hojlund was only on the bench and was not put on the field. Speaking to the press ahead of the big match against Arsenal, coach Amorim avoided confirming his student's future: "He is still an option, but we are focused on this match. Rasmus is still on the payroll of MU".

United prefer to sell Hojlund outright, although they are willing to accept a price lower than £45m. A loan option is also being considered. Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee, a striker who has just recovered from injury, is ready to return.

Hojlund joined MU from Atalanta in 2023 for a total fee that could reach 85 million euros, Hojlund scored 26 goals in 95 matches. However, last season he only had 10 goals in all competitions, only 4 goals in the Premier League, and went through a streak of 21 consecutive matches without a goal from December to March.
