On the morning of September 19, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) held a meeting of the Advisory Council to select organizations and individuals to preside over the implementation of grassroots-level Science and Technology tasks in 2025 (2nd time) for the topic: "Research on some technical measures as a scientific basis for recognizing the special circulation of Doong Pan tea variety in Doc Lap commune, Cao Bang province". Comrade Nong Thanh Than, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, Chairman of the Council, chaired the meeting.

Cao Bang has a diverse ecological environment, favorable for the formation and development of many indigenous crops, including tea. This is a crop that brings economic efficiency, becoming a livelihood to help people in Doc Lap commune eliminate hunger and reduce poverty. However, in the production process, specialty varieties still have many limitations such as mixed varieties, variety degeneration, and decreased productivity and quality.

In order to better manage, put specialty varieties into production in accordance with regulations, and at the same time determine suitable growing areas, preserve good characteristics, increase commercial value and establish ownership, it is very necessary to research and propose special circulation recognition for the Doong Pan tea variety in Doc Lap commune. Within 18 months , the project's host agency will research and implement 4 contents: Research on agrobiological characteristics, evaluate growth ability, productivity, analyze biochemical indicators to evaluate the quality of indigenous tea trees in Doc Lap commune, Cao Bang province; Develop and complete technical guidelines for propagation and planting of indigenous Doong Pan tea trees; monitor and evaluate the selection of 300 original Doong Pan tea trees; develop a dossier to request special circulation recognition for the Doong Pan tea variety.

 

After listening to the explanation of the organization that registered to preside over the implementation, the Council members discussed the objectives, content, research methods, expected results of scientific and technological products, applicability, transfer methods after having research results... To complete the project dossier, the Council requested the research group to supplement, clarify and edit some contents. In particular, supplementing data in the overview of the research and explanation situation; the ability to apply and transfer research results into production (local market demand); the research content needs to follow the description in form 02 in Decree 94/2019/ND-CP to have a scientific basis for proof; the dossier components need to be supplemented to clarify the implementation progress, individuals... and add more members participating in the project; clarify economic efficiency; Propagation process...

 

The Council conducted a scoring vote, the result was 81.1/100 points, unanimously assigned to Phu Tho Province Tea Research and Development Center to preside over the implementation, MSc. Vu Thi Thien, Project Manager./.
