On the afternoon of July 20, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Vietnam, received Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone, member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Laos.
Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San emphasized that the defense cooperation between the two countries continues to be effectively implemented in many areas such as delegation exchanges, especially high-level delegations; cooperation in training and coaching of cadres; and enhanced coordination in border management and protection.
Authorities on both sides regularly exchange information, organize joint patrols, and coordinate effectively in the fight against cross-border crimes, especially drug crimes and illegal immigration.
In the coming time, based on this year's cooperation plan, it is proposed that the two sides continue to coordinate to comprehensively and effectively implement cooperation contents; focusing on a number of activities such as the first Vietnam-Laos-Cambodia Border Defense Friendship Exchange at the Defense Minister level; the annual meeting between the three Defense Ministers...
On this occasion, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San congratulated Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone on being appointed by the Lao Government and Ministry of National Defense as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Unitel Company; believing that Unitel Company will continue to develop even more strongly, worthy of being a symbol of effective cooperation between the two countries and the two Armies.
Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone thanked Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San for taking the time to receive him, and conveyed the greetings of General Chansamone Chanyalath, Politburo member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of National Defense of Laos to General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense of Vietnam; and thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense for coordinating and supporting the Lao Ministry of National Defense in renovating the Laos-Vietnam Combat Alliance Memorial in Xieng Khouang province.
Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakone suggested that in the coming time, the two sides continue to focus on promoting the completion of cooperation contents according to this year's Defense Cooperation Plan between the two countries.
