A representative of Rosaleen Boutique Hotel (36 Chu Van An, Hue City, Thua Thien - Hue Province) said that the hotel is currently fully preparing facilities and personnel to serve guests during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

In addition to preparing facilities, the hotel also promoted the programs of the Hue Traditional Craft Festival (taking place on the occasion of the April 30-May 1 holiday) to tourists. Therefore, the number of guests booking rooms skyrocketed and all the hotel rooms were fully booked.

Most hotels in Hue have been booked early.

A representative of Midtown Hue Hotel (29 Doi Cung, Hue City) said that the April 30 and May 1 holidays are considered Tet holidays for the tourism industry.

This year, the number of visitors to Hue on the occasion of April 30 and May 1 has increased dramatically and currently all the hotel rooms have been booked and the hotel only has a few spare rooms in case the guest room blocks have problems.

Responding to VTC News , Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien-Hue province, said that during the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day, April 30th, May 1st and Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2023, it is expected that about 95,000 tourists will come to Hue. The total number of guests who have booked accommodation is estimated at 55,500.

“ Tourism businesses are also required to ensure the quality of service to tourists during peak times. In particular, they must strictly list prices, and not raise room rates or force prices on visitors to Hue. The tourism industry, in coordination with localities, has a hotline to support tourists when necessary, ” said Mr. Phuc.

Danang still has many vacant rooms

According to a survey by reporters, despite the 5-day holiday, the number of tourists to the coastal city of Da Nang did not explode like before 2019.

Specifically, up to now, the room occupancy rate of accommodation facilities near the beach (4-5 star hotels) has reached about 70-80% and 50-60% for hotels from 3 stars and below. Meanwhile, in the city center, the occupancy rate of hotels has only reached 60-70%.

Mr. Le Pham Quoc Anh, manager of Nhu Minh Hotel on Pham Van Dong Street, Da Nang, said that currently the number of guests booking rooms is only 70%.

“ About a month ago, travel agencies booked about 90% of hotel rooms, but in recent days many agencies have announced cancellations because there were not as many guests as expected. Currently, the number of reservations is only about 65-70% and we only hope that on the days close to the holidays, there will be individual groups booking rooms, ” said Mr. Anh.

Hotels in Da Nang are currently only at 70-80% capacity.

Similarly, at 4-5 star hotels on coastal routes such as Hoang Sa, Truong Sa, Vo Nguyen Giap, Pham Van Dong, Vo Van Kiet, Nguyen Van Thoai... the number of guests booking rooms is only 60-80%. Meanwhile, at hotels in the central area of Da Nang City, the current occupancy rate is only about 55-70%.

According to a representative of the Than Tai Mountain Mineral Spring Park Tourist Area, the number of guests booking rooms during the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year is not the same as before the pandemic. Currently, only May 1 is fully booked, while other days are only 70-80% full.

“ We are fully prepared to welcome visitors. The number of room reservations for the holiday reached 85% capacity, and on May 1st alone, the Ebisu Onsen Resort hotel system of the resort reached 100% capacity. This year's April 30 and May 1 holidays with a long holiday are expected to create a boost for Da Nang tourism in general and Nui Than Tai Mineral Spring Park in particular after the long pandemic period ,” said a representative of the resort.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Quy, representative of a travel agency in Da Nang, said that one of the reasons why there are not too many tourists coming to Da Nang is because before the holiday, airlines simultaneously increased ticket prices.

The number of tourists coming to Da Nang during the April 30 and May 1 holidays this year is expected to not be as crowded as in 2019.

“ The ticket prices are too high, while the economy is still facing many difficulties, so people have to calculate and weigh the pros and cons. Spending about 5-6 million VND to buy a plane ticket from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang makes many people who want to travel change their minds. A 4-5 day trip to Da Nang with a total cost of about 12 million VND/person (including airfare, accommodation, food) for a family of 4 people will cost about 40 million VND, which is too high. If compared to traveling to Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand... this cost is much more expensive ,” Mr. Quy compared.

Therefore, Mr. Quy believes that Da Nang can expect the flow of tourists traveling by road or rail and the current room occupancy rate is quite reasonable.

Da Nang organizes many events to serve tourists during the April 30 and May 1 holidays.

The leader of the Da Nang Tourism Association said that the number of visitors to Da Nang may be large but will not "explode". According to this person, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, Da Nang will receive about 65-70 direct flights from abroad per day. This number has recovered to the peak level in 2019. Meanwhile, the number of domestic flights to Da Nang during the holidays is about 70-75 flights per day.

" It is expected that the number of domestic tourists will be almost the same as in 2019, while the number of international tourists will be about 70-80% compared to 2019 ," said the leader of the Da Nang Tourism Association.
