Accordingly, Beijing Hyundai EO is expected to go on sale from September 2025 in the Chinese market. Previously, this model was known by the code name Elexio during development. The new Hyundai EO 2025 electric SUV will be the first product of the company's "New Energy Year" strategy in the country with the world's largest populous market and largest electric vehicle ownership.
The Hyundai EO has overall dimensions of 4,615 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height (or 1,698 mm with roof rack). The 2,750 mm long wheelbase combined with 20-inch wheels adds to its sporty and sturdy look. The car has a bold urban design with many modern accents. The car has a daytime running light cluster with a number 8 shape inspired by crystals, a symbol of luck in East Asian culture. Powering the EO are two powertrain options. The front-wheel-drive version gets a single 214.5-horsepower electric motor. The all-wheel-drive version gets an additional 97-horsepower rear motor, bringing the total output to 312 horsepower.
Both configurations reach a top speed of 185 km/h. Powering the car is an LFP battery pack manufactured by FinDreams - a subsidiary of BYD, providing an operating range of up to 700 km according to CLTC standards. Not only focusing on performance, EO is also equipped with a smart technology platform. The car integrates the Haomo.ai semi-autonomous driving support system with L2+ level control capability, providing a safe and comfortable driving experience in a modern urban environment. Currently, Beijing Hyundai does not have any pure electric vehicle models officially distributed in China. The introduction of the EO marks a strategic shift by Beijing Hyundai in its efforts to penetrate deeper into the booming electric vehicle segment in China. In the next three years, the joint venture aims to launch at least five new EV models, positioned in the price range of 100,000 to 300,000 yuan (about 364.9 - 1.09 billion VND), to reach a wide range of customers from the popular to mid-range segments.
According to analysts, the Hyundai EO 2025 electric SUV model in the Chinese market will likely be priced below 150,000 yuan (equivalent to about 547.3 million VND). However, in the context of the Chinese electric vehicle market entering a period of fierce competition in terms of technology, selling price and product innovation speed, EO will face great pressure to create its own mark in the hearts of consumers.
