On August 8, the City Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a meeting to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first General Election to elect the National Assembly of Vietnam (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2026) and summarize the activities of the National Assembly Delegation of the 15th term of Ho Chi Minh City, term 2021-2026.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi affirmed that in the achievements of 80 years of the National Assembly in general and the 15th National Assembly in particular, there are persistent, responsible, creative, very valuable and proud contributions of the National Assembly Delegation of 3 localities (Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong , Ba Ria - Vung Tau), now the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation.
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee affirmed that the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation today are very typical delegates, representing various sectors and fields. With their intelligence, emotions, responsibility and methods, they have made outstanding contributions to the activities of the National Assembly, to the development of Ho Chi Minh City, creating the image and prestige of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee hopes that the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation will continue to promote its tradition, spirit, responsibility and prestige, be the focal point for institutional creation, a bridge of trust, support and create conditions for the city, and make worthy contributions to the rapid and sustainable development of Ho Chi Minh City.
In particular, the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation continues to proactively propose the completion and implementation of specific mechanisms, especially Resolution 98 of the National Assembly, decentralization and delegation of power along with power control; review overlapping regulations that are no longer suitable for the characteristics of the megacity.
At the same time, propose proactive, flexible, effective, and timely financial and budgetary models to promote the mobilization of social resources; public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms for strategic infrastructure, social housing, and high-quality healthcare and education.
Along with that, focus on effectively implementing the 2-level local government model; best exploit the potential, advantages, and new development space of the city to build and develop the city worthy of the position, role, and responsibility of Ho Chi Minh City.
Focus on developing science and technology, innovation, focusing on digital transformation, promoting administrative reform programs associated with digital transformation. Standardizing processes, drastically reducing procedures, time, and compliance costs for people and businesses; enhancing the responsibility of leaders. Aiming to build digital cities, digital services, digital citizens, digital societies, modern and smart governance.
Removing infrastructure bottlenecks and creating and planning new development spaces for Ho Chi Minh City. Prioritizing investment in key projects and works, belt routes, radial axes, urban railways, logistics infrastructure, urban embellishment and development with synchronous economic and social infrastructure; associated with environmental protection, promoting regional connectivity.
Along with that, focus on building policies to care for social security, develop culture and people, in which pay attention to the city's characteristics. Promote the implementation of policies to develop social housing, cultural institutions, education, grassroots health care, care for workers, laborers, and the disadvantaged; develop high-quality human resources.
At the same time, preserve and promote the cultural - historical - traditional values of the city; build a safe, civilized, modern living environment, truly a livable city.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee is interested in and creates conditions to improve the quality of activities of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation, the People's Council and people's petition work. Professionalize the delegation, increase the proportion of full-time delegates, and foster legislative, supervisory and communication skills.
Improve the quality and effectiveness of voter and citizen contact; promote the supervisory role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and mass organizations, the press and the people; resolutely prevent and combat corruption and negativity, and build a clean and strong Party and political system.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the General Election Day, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee expressed that we are more deeply aware of the core values of democracy, rule of law, discipline, and responsibility; more clearly recognizing the mission of serving the people of elected representatives with a sense of responsibility and dedication.
