Indonesia will prepare an attacking style of play similar to Vietnam to confront the Philippines.

Indonesia will play away to the Philippines on November 21 at Rizal Memorial Stadium (Manila, Philippines). Before this match, coach Shin Tae Yong of the archipelago team did not hesitate to express his opinion on the appropriate playing style for Indonesia, to help the team aim for victory.

Coach Shin Tae Yong said: "We have seen how the Philippines lost to the Vietnamese team. Therefore, Indonesia will prepare for an attacking style similar to the Vietnamese team, to win against the Philippines. I will prepare the whole team well, and will make appropriate adjustments compared to the previous match."

Indonesia just suffered a heavy 1-5 defeat against Iraq on November 16. The defeat in Basra (Iraq) put the team from the archipelago in a position where they must defeat the Philippines in order to pursue a ticket to the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.

In the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia, Iraq, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam are in Group F. The top two teams in this group will advance to the third qualifying round.

"I reminded the players not to make more mistakes, especially mistakes like the way we conceded from the first to the third goal in the match against Iraq.

I know Indonesian fans are looking forward to the next match against the Philippines. I also know that the Philippines uses Rizal Memorial Stadium which has artificial turf, not natural grass. Therefore, Indonesia will prepare well for the upcoming match.

I let my players do recovery exercises and get used to the artificial turf," coach Shin Tae Yong continued to reveal.

Up to now, Indonesia has arrived in Manila (Philippines). The team from the archipelago is the only team in Group F that has to play its first two matches away from home. On the contrary, the Philippines is the only team that has played its first two matches in this group at home.
