In a letter to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh , Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru expressed: "Hearing the news of the passing of Mr. Tran Duc Luong, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I would like to send my deepest condolences to the Government and people of Vietnam as well as the family of the former President."
Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru highly appreciated the contributions of former President Tran Duc Luong to the cause of building and developing Vietnam, and affirmed: “Former President Tran Duc Luong left behind great contributions to the cause of national construction during the turbulent development period of Vietnam, as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 1997 to 2006, leading Vietnam firmly on the path of innovation.”
The Japanese Prime Minister also expressed his respect for the dedication of former President Tran Duc Luong, who even after retirement and in his last days always paid attention to the country's development.
In a letter sent to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi expressed his deep condolences and sincere condolences to the family of former President Tran Duc Luong and all the Vietnamese people.
Minister Iwaya Takeshi wrote: “Former President Tran Duc Luong made great contributions to the cause of national construction during Vietnam's turbulent development period. He was President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam from 1997 to 2006, leading Vietnam firmly on the path of innovation.”
The Japanese Foreign Minister emphasized his appreciation for the contributions of former President Tran Duc Luong and once again sent his deepest condolences to the family of former President Tran Duc Luong .
