iPhone 15 suddenly increased in price after being discontinued by Apple

(Dan Tri) - The 128GB version of iPhone 15 is being offered by dealers for 15.8 million VND, an increase of 800,000 VND compared to the end of August.

After announcing the iPhone 17 product line, Apple also quietly discontinued a series of older products, including the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus duo. Despite this, sales of the two devices have continued to increase sharply recently.

Speaking to Dan Tri reporters, representatives of many large retail systems in Vietnam said that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus duo are currently among the products favored by users in the segment under 20 million VND.

"Sales of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus remain stable. It is expected that the purchasing power of these two devices will continue to increase in the coming time, especially as the year-end shopping season approaches," said a representative of Minh Tuan Mobile system.

Even after being discontinued by Apple, the price of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus suddenly increased sharply in Vietnam.

Currently, the 128GB version of the iPhone 15 is being offered by dealers at a price of 15.8 million VND, an increase of 800,000 VND compared to the end of August. The 128GB version of the iPhone 15 Plus has also been adjusted up by 500,000 VND, to a price of 18.8 million VND.

Ms. Van Thi Ngoc Yen, Apple Product Manager at Mobile World, predicts that the price of iPhone 15 may continue to increase by 1-2 million VND depending on the version in the final period of the year.

Up to now, the supply of iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus in the Vietnamese market is still relatively stable. However, because Apple has discontinued these two product lines, the color options are no longer as diverse as before.

In the second quarter, Apple discontinued some older product lines in the Vietnamese market, including the iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 14 Plus. This contributed significantly to the sales growth of the iPhone 15.

In the same segment, the iPhone 15 is currently competing with its own "homegrown" model, the iPhone 16e. The iPhone 15 stands out thanks to its youthful, colorful design, Dynamic Island screen, and dual camera cluster.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 16e has a powerful A18 chip, supports the Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence toolkit and has better battery life. Although it is an old product, the iPhone 15 is more popular with Vietnamese users than Apple's newly launched model.

According to a report from market research firm Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 15 is the leading device in the list of best-selling smartphones in the world in 2024. Nearly half of the sales of this model come from the US and Chinese markets.
