The Israeli military said Hezbollah had fired nearly 320 projectiles from Lebanon into Israel and areas in northern Israel were closed. The military also ordered the evacuation of 23 villages in southern Lebanon over concerns about Hezbollah activities.
The United States has expressed concern over Israel’s attacks on United Nations peacekeeping force (UNIFIL) positions in Lebanon. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has called on Israel to ensure the safety of the force and turn to diplomacy.
Israel accuses Hezbollah of using ambulances to transport weapons and soldiers, while Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has had to close many medical facilities due to Israeli airstrikes, severely disrupting medical care.
The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah erupted a year ago and has escalated recently with back-and-forth attacks, forcing millions of people to flee their homes and causing many casualties.
