“We will strengthen space cooperation, working together with the common understanding that this is the mission of the future and a challenge for our continent,” Urso said after meeting with French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire. “Italy, France and Germany need to work together to address global challenges,” he said.
French Finance Minister Le Maire said that the cooperation in the space sector between the two countries aims to successfully operate the Ariane 6 launch system and soon resume the operation of the Vega-C rocket after the recent failed launch.
In December 2022, French operator Arianespace said its Vega-C rocket failed on its second launch attempt due to an engine failure. An investigation by the European Space Agency found that the failure was caused by a faulty spare part purchased from Ukraine.
