Jennie apologizes for abruptly stopping her performance
Recently, on her personal page, Jennie (BlackPink) apologized to fans for not being able to complete her performance in Melbourne, Australia due to poor health.
Jennie felt sorry to fans after leaving the stage and ending the performance abruptly
The idol wrote: "Love to my Blinks in Melbourne. I'm so sorry I couldn't finish the concert on Sunday. I'm doing my best to recover. Your understanding and support means the world to me. Thank you all for coming to the show in Melbourne. I love you."
Previously, on June 11, Jennie suddenly left the stage, stopping performing when the group performed the song "Lovesick Girls" during a concert in Australia.
BlackPink's manager revealed that Jennie vomited continuously all day and had to receive IV fluids before performing.
That same evening, YG Entertainment - the female idol's management company issued a statement saying: "Jennie was unable to complete the performance due to poor health. We apologize to the fans who supported BlackPink and attended the performance. We hope you understand."
YG Entertainment added that Jennie wanted to continue performing until the end of the concert. However, medical staff at the scene advised the female idol to rest.
Jennie had health problems at concert in Australia
This is not the first time Jennie has had health problems due to her high workload. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the female idol revealed that she does not have a good immune system and often falls ill.
"These days I often think about whether I am living a healthy life or not. I was physically and mentally exhausted after the world tour (in 2020). The intensity of work made us not have time to sleep, eat unscientifically and do not provide enough water for the body.
"I get allergic reactions wherever I touch. My immune system is not working, but the group still has to travel. We are currently preparing for our upcoming comeback and tour. I am always wondering how I can stay healthy during the next two busy years," Jennie confided.
When idols fall ill due to "overload"
BlackPink members are currently on a world tour. The tour schedule is quite tight. The members have to fly between different locations, not to mention their personal schedules.
Previously, BlackPink members repeatedly showed that their health was not guaranteed when performing at many concerts. Recently, Jisoo contracted Covid-19 and had to miss the group's concert in Japan.
BlackPink has a busy schedule in 2023
Not only BlackPink members, many Kpop stars also fall into the same situation when having to perform dense tours.
Naver even had to admit: "Idols' fatigue will reach its limit when they go on overseas tours."
Typically, with the band BTS, few people expect that behind the spectacular performances in front of millions of audiences, there is the exhaustion of the members.
“When I said the promotional schedule was difficult for the group, I felt guilty. Because I was afraid that the fans would feel disappointed in the group. Even when I said I wanted to rest, I felt like I did something bad,” leader RM once confided.
In addition, the limited contract period is also the reason why many companies try to exploit and promote activities to gain as much profit as possible.
BTS
Previously, Twice shocked everyone by releasing 3 products within 3 months, continuously organizing world tours, filming commercials, participating in TV shows. Their health was eroded and Mina had to stop working due to anxiety disorder in 2019, Jungyeon had a herniated disc in her neck and psychological problems.
Similarly, Wanna One revealed that the group only gets 1 hour of sleep a day, Rei (IVE) took a break to treat his health, Lay (EXO) fainted twice due to exhaustion, Jungkook (BTS) burst into tears on livestream because he was too tired... partly exposing the harshness of the Korean entertainment industry.
The Insider newspaper commented that the life of Kpop idols is harsh, extremely stressful and cramped. They are expected to meet extremely high public standards and must demonstrate that Kpop is “safe and healthy”: no violence, stimulants, mental health problems, sexual harassment, bullying...
And the LA Times exposed: "Behind the songs that sweep the charts are people, even problematic people."
