In the Vietnamese swimming team, swimmer Tran Hung Nguyen won 3 gold medals (including 1 gold medal in the men's 400m medley relay). The bonus for the 3 gold medals that Hung Nguyen received was 135 million VND. In addition, Hung Nguyen also won 1 silver medal, the bonus was 25 million VND. He won 1 bronze medal, the bonus was 20 million VND. The total bonus that Hung Nguyen received according to the State's regulations was 180 million VND. Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang won 3 gold medals, 1 bronze medal, the bonus he received was 155 million VND. Swimmer Pham Thanh Bao won 2 gold medals, the bonus was 90 million VND. In addition, with 2 SEA Games records, he received an additional 40 million VND (20 million VND/SEA Games record).

According to statistics from the Vietnamese sports delegation, the teams that finished the competition and exceeded their targets include gymnastics with 4 gold medals (1 gold medal excess), karate with 6 gold medals (2 gold medal excess), wushu with 6 gold medals (1 gold medal excess); kun Khmer with 5 gold medals (2 gold medal excess); kun bokator with 6 gold medals (4 gold medal excess).

The teams that finished but did not fulfill their targets were athletics (won 12 gold medals - target was 14), swimming (won 7 gold medals - target was 8), and vovinam (won 7 - target was 8).

"In athletics, the target was 14 gold medals but only 12 were achieved. If we look at the quantity, the target was not met. But looking at the general situation, we see that at the 31st SEA Games we won 22 gold medals, the total number of medals was 45. This time we won 12 gold medals and the total number of medals is 40", said Mr. Dang Ha Viet - Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation.
