The number of works submitted to the Press Awards shows that the fields of culture, sports , tourism and family always receive strong attention.
On July 15, the Organizing Committee of the second National Press Award 'For the development of Culture, Sports and Tourism ' opened the preliminary round.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Organizing Committee, attended and gave a speech directing the judging process.
Also attending the opening of the preliminary round were Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Permanent Vice President of the Preliminary Council; Editor-in-Chief of the Culture Newspaper Nguyen Anh Vu, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award; Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Culture Newspaper Phan Thanh Nam, Vice President of the Preliminary Council, along with members of the Preliminary Council, reporters from press agencies, etc.
At the program, Editor-in-Chief of Culture Newspaper Nguyen Anh Vu, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award, announced the decision to establish and the Working Regulations of the Preliminary Council.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu said that, implementing Decision No. 2450/QD-BVHTTDL dated October 5, 2022 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism approving the Project to organize the National Press Award "For the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism", the Organizing Committee has issued the rules of the second award.
The Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award has issued a Decision to establish the Preliminary Council of the Award, along with the judging and working regulations of the Preliminary Council.

Speaking at the award judging, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Award Organizing Committee, emphasized that the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism were pleased to see that since the success of the first award, the National Press Award "For the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism" continued to receive support and response from many press agencies, journalists and reporters following the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family.
According to the Deputy Minister, the number of submitted works shows that the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family always receive strong attention.
In general, the works clearly reflect the resolutions and policies; the drastic directions of the Party and State leaders and the determination of the entire industry in developing the fields.
The contributions of the culture, sports and tourism sector to socio-economic development have created rich materials for journalists to create quality journalistic works.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy thanked the press agencies, journalists and reporters for their attention to the Award.
According to Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy, with this year's regulations, the Organizing Committee has researched and revised them to ensure scientific and professional standards; creating uniformity among types of journalism as well as participating works in different fields.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy hopes that the award judging process will ensure fairness, objectivity, and strictness, and follow the rules and regulations to select worthy works and award prizes.
The Deputy Minister assigned the Culture Newspaper, the standing agency of the Award, to focus resources and support the Preliminary and Final Jury to complete the judging process on schedule, while upholding professionalism. Propaganda work before, during and after the event needs to be promoted to create a widespread impact for the Award; contributing to affirming the position and role of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector in social life.
Reporting on the work collection and preliminary judging of the Award, Mr. Phan Thanh Nam, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Culture Newspaper, Vice Chairman of the Preliminary Jury, said that on May 22, 2024, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Organizing Committee of the second National Press Award "For the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism" signed Decision No. 1375/QD-BTCGBC promulgating the Award Rules.
Since its launch, the award has received positive responses from journalists and members of the Vietnam Journalists Association nationwide.
Entries must be published and broadcast on all types of press including print, electronic, radio, television, and press photos from July 1, 2023 to June 15, 2024.
The Organizing Committee will award 1 First Prize, 3 Second Prizes, 5 Third Prizes and 10 Consolation Prizes for each press category. In addition, there will be 3 equal prizes for 3 press agencies with many entries and high results.
Mr. Phan Thanh Nam emphasized: "By the end of the contest entry submission date of June 20, 2024, the Organizing Committee had received a total of 920 entries.
This is a large number of works, especially for an industry journalism award launched in a short time. This demonstrates the enthusiasm and special interest of journalists and the press public in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family.
From 920 submitted works, the Secretariat - Synthesis Subcommittee reviewed, screened and eliminated works that violated the rules, leaving 894 valid works.
Of which, print newspapers have 258 works; electronic newspapers have 235 works; radio has 92 works; television has 222 works and photo newspapers have 87 works.
The preliminary judging panel is composed of 5 sub-committees: Print, Electronic, Radio, Television and Photojournalism. The preliminary judging is expected to be completed before July 24.
The expected number of works selected for the Final Round by type is as follows: print newspaper (25 works); electronic newspaper (25 works); radio (22 works); television (25 works); press photos (20 works).
According to Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang, Head of the Professional Department of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Permanent Vice President of the Preliminary Council, despite the urgent time, with experience, enthusiasm and the highest sense of responsibility, the Preliminary Council will work seriously, ensuring that the judging process is objective, transparent, and in accordance with regulations.
The second National Press Award "For the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism" was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to select and award the author or group of authors with excellent press works on culture, family, sports and tourism published and broadcast by central and local press agencies within the prescribed time; award the award to the typical press agency with many winning works. The award aims to recognize and honor the outstanding contributions of collectives and individuals of the press team to the development of culture, sports and tourism. Through the Award, we aim to inform and introduce the results and achievements of culture, sports and tourism. At the same time, we discover typical and advanced examples in the culture, sports and tourism sector; encourage and motivate cadres in the whole sector to join hands and continue to contribute more to the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism. Create conditions for journalists to exchange professional and technical experiences, contributing to improving the quality and effectiveness of information and press activities in the fields of culture, family, sports and tourism. |
