NDO - On December 11, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Bakery Association (Vietnam Tourism Association) organized the international talented pastry chef competition in Vietnam - The Viet Nam Bakery Cup 2024. The competition attracted nearly 500 professional bakers from home and abroad to compete.
Ms. Tran Thi Hien Minh, Vice President of the Saigon Professional Chefs Association, said that this is the first competition held in Vietnam, attracting nearly 500 professional pastry chefs, cooks, and sculptors, including international contestants from Korea, China, Malaysia, etc.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, the contest contributes to promoting and introducing the cultural and economic values of the bakery industry, while promoting and developing the Vietnamese bakery industry in particular and the Vietnamese culinary industry in general.

At the competition, the Organizing Committee also built an exhibition space for equipment, products, materials, accessories, and services for the restaurant and hotel catering industry with the participation of exhibitors from all over the world .
Ms. Vo Thi Ha Hai, owner of Madi Bakery, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City shared: "Through the contest, we hope to contribute our small part to bring Vietnamese cuisine and chefs to the world market, thereby introducing international friends to learn more about Vietnamese cuisine."
As a unit specializing in baking yeast, Mr. Mai Duc Huy, Sales Director of SAF-Viet Joint Venture Company Limited, said that yeast is the key in the culinary baking industry.
He hopes that through the competition, chefs will understand more about yeast and have breakthroughs in the future. "I want to contribute a small part to the development of the Vietnamese baking industry," said Mr. Mai Duc Huy.

The California Raisin Association's trade representative in Vietnam said that the association has brought high-quality ingredients, contributing to the flavor of baked goods and elevating Vietnamese pastries.
According to this representative, after the competition, raisin products will reach more consumers, professional chefs will know about the product and use it in their stores.
The Viet Nam Bakery Cup 2024 takes place from December 11 to 13 with 21 cooking, pastry and presentation competitions designed for talented chefs and bakers at all levels according to international standards.
In the competitions, contestants strive to demonstrate their talents, skills and creativity. Each contestant must ensure the professionalism of the international competition, ensure food safety and hygiene, and security and order.
Ms. Tran Thi Hien Minh, Vice President of the Saigon Professional Chefs Association, added that the competitions and judging are all according to international standards. The contestants with the highest prizes will be selected to compete in the international arena.
