On September 14, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the City Ornamental Plants Association to open the first Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024. This is one of 17 events held to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Attending the program were: Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen; Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen; along with comrades representing Central and Hanoi departments, ministries, branches; delegates representing Ornamental Plant Associations of provinces and cities across the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Dai said that the first Hanoi Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024 has an exhibition area of over 30,000 m2 and an activity space of 80,000 m2, attracting the participation of over 1,000 subjects from 55 provinces and cities nationwide with over 33,000 typical ornamental plant works.

The works belong to 5 groups: over 12 thousand ornamental plants; over 10 thousand driftwood works; 10,700 ornamental stones (bronze, fine art); 200 orchid works; 220 caged ornamental birds; 190 ornamental bamboo works and over 2 thousand OCOP products and regional specialties.
The first Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024 with the participation of provinces and cities across the country will contribute to exploiting the cultural quintessence crystallized in ornamental plant works, craft village products, regional specialties, OCOP products, etc. Thereby enhancing the value of agricultural products, promoting tourism development and typical ecological agricultural models of the capital Hanoi. The event also aims to honor the creativity and talent of the community of artisans, entrepreneurs, and typical garden owners nationwide; affirming the new position of ornamental plant production and business activities, one of the 7 rural development sectors according to Decree No. 52-ND/CP of the Government, making practical contributions to the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas in the capital.
The Festival takes place from September 11 to 15, 2024 at the F1 Racetrack (Nam Tu Liem District) with many special activities, such as: Hanoi Open Bonsai Competition 2024; displaying the quintessence of Vietnamese bonsai with 1,014 typical bonsai works of provinces and cities across the country participating in the Festival, symbolizing 1,014 years of Thang Long - Hanoi, including 70 most outstanding works in the central area, symbolizing 70 years of the Liberation of the Capital.

In particular, during the Festival, responding to the call of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with the City's Ornamental Plants Association to organize an auction and launch a fundraising campaign to support people in localities affected by storm No. 3. Up to now, the auction of ornamental plants has raised over 480 million VND and raised 150 million VND to support people affected by storm No. 3.
This is a practical and meaningful work, promoting the tradition of "mutual love"https://dangcongsan.vn/kinh-te/, "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", with the spirit of "sharing food and clothes" to join hands to share and support people in areas affected by storms and floods. Practical spiritual and material assistance helps alleviate pain and loss, contributing to quickly restoring production and stabilizing the lives of people in areas affected by storms, floods and natural disasters.
Right at the opening ceremony of the first Hanoi Ornamental Plants Festival in 2024, representatives of the leaders of the Hanoi Party Committee - People's Committee, along with many ornamental plant associations, artisans, businessmen, garden owners, organizations, individuals... participated in donating and supporting people affected by storm No. 3./.
