Attending the opening ceremony were comrades: Nguyen Hai Ninh, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Justice; Trinh Viet Hung, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Lao Cai province; along with representatives of the Central Committee, provinces and cities, the Vietnamese Consulate in Kunming, Yunnan-China, and representatives of Yunnan province (China).

The Red River-Lao Cai Festival 2025 takes place from November 18 to 24 in Lao Cai ward, Cam Duong ward and several other localities of Lao Cai province.

This is the first year Lao Cai province organizes the Red River Festival, opening the Red River Festival Project for the period 2025-2035.

The Festival is an important cultural- economic -foreign affairs event, aiming to honor the history, culture and civilization of the Red River, foster national pride, educate the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking", at the same time, promote economic-social development cooperation, expand friendly relations between provinces and cities in the Red River basin (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China).

Within the framework of the Festival, visitors will experience the cultural space of ethnic groups; visit cultural exhibitions, tourism , photos, artifacts and publications about the Red River; enjoy folk rituals, folk songs, traditional costumes to feel the beauty of the land and people of the upstream region - where the Red River flows into Vietnam.

Along with that is a series of events and activities of economic-sports-tourism-friendly exchange, such as: Vietnam-China International Trade Fair; reenactment of the old Coc Leu Market; international cycling race "One track - two countries".

In particular, the Lao Cai Shan Tuyet Tea Festival "Tea scent in the clouds" will honor the quintessence of highland products, bringing visitors experiences rich in cultural identity.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, emphasized the historical significance and stature of the Red River-Lao Cai Festival 2025, organized at the time when Lao Cai province was just established on the basis of merging Lao Cai and Yen Bai. This is a particularly important milestone, opening a new development path with the aspiration for innovation, creativity, integration and green, sustainable, harmonious and unique development.

The Red River-Lao Cai Festival 2025 is not only a cultural festival, but also an important political, economic and diplomatic activity; contributing to implementing the policy of developing cultural industry associated with tourism, making culture an endogenous strength and driving force for sustainable development.

This is also a forum for localities to exchange, cooperate, share experiences, and at the same time strengthen the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and China - two countries linked by mountains and rivers, with shared cultures and similar ideals, and together fostering peace and development.

Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh delivered the opening speech of the Red River Festival 2025.

The regular organization of the Red River Festival is a concrete step to implement the Resolution of the first Lao Cai Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Party Congress, demonstrating the spirit of innovation, creativity, proactive integration, building Lao Cai into a trade connection center, a leading cultural-tourism center of the northern midlands and mountainous region.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. La Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the People's Government of Hong Ha Province (Yunnan, China) expressed her joy that the Red River Festival and the China-Vietnam Cooperation Week in the Red River basin were held on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and the Year of Humanitarian Exchange between the two countries.

Ms. La Binh described the Red River as a "friendship bridge" connecting seven continents and cities of China with eight provinces and cities of Vietnam, carrying traditional friendship as comrades and brothers and the aspiration to build a common future.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, a large number of people and tourists enjoyed a special art program with the theme "Where the Red River flows into Vietnam", vividly recreating the cultural colors of the highlands of Lao Cai province.

The elaborately staged performances brought wonderful experiences to locals and tourists.

Lao Cai province hopes that the Red River Festival will increasingly spread, reaching regional and international levels, becoming a typical cultural-tourism event, contributing significantly to the prosperous development of the Red River basin and an inspiring meeting place for tourists on their journey to discover Vietnamese culture.
