Opening of the 2025 National Petanque Team Championship

This year's tournament has 184 athletes participating from 16 provinces and cities across the country.

The 2025 National Team Petanque Tournament takes place from May 16 to 25, 2025, with the participation of 184 athletes from 16 provinces, cities, and industries with a strong petanque movement across the country such as: Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Army, Thanh Hoa, Binh Duong, Dong Thap, Nghe An, Soc Trang, ...

Athletes compete in 07 events, such as: Men's team, women's team, men's technical team, women's technical team, mixed technical team, mixed trio 02 women 01 man and mixed trio 02 men 01 woman.

According to Mr. Lam Thanh Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Soc Trang province, the tournament is an important sporting event to continue promoting the implementation of the Campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", and at the same time practically celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

Along with that, it is an opportunity for athletes to exchange and accumulate competition experience, and for experts to select talented faces to supplement the national team to participate in regional and international competitions.

Mr. Lam Thanh Dung said that through the tournament, the Department will evaluate the quality and level of talented petanque athletes in Soc Trang province, thereby creating a basis for selecting and training athletes with high achievements and good techniques and building a plan to develop the province's petanque to provide potential athletes for the national team.

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the first matches took place in the content: Women's team between Tra Vinh province team and Binh Duong province team, Dong Thap province team and Nghe An province team and men's team match between Dong Thap province team and Military Zone 9 team, Vinh Long province team and host Soc Trang team. The matches were exciting, with many high techniques attracting the attention of the audience.

Athlete Nguyen Thi Yen Linh, Dong Thap Province team shared that this year the athletes have prepared quite well in terms of expertise, the level of athletes has improved compared to previous years. In addition, the Organizing Committee has created conditions for accommodation, living, and training for the participating teams, giving the athletes more motivation and confidence when entering the competitions.
