On the evening of December 19, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense , chaired the opening ceremony of the 2024 ASEAN Military Music Exchange with the theme "Music connects friendship."

The 2024 military music exchange is one of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day; contributing to promoting the country, people and the Vietnam People's Army to the military and international friends, especially countries in the ASEAN bloc.

This is also an opportunity to enhance understanding, trust, and strengthen solidarity and friendship between the armies of the countries; convey to the people and international friends the message "The armies of the countries cooperate in friendship, aiming to ensure peace , security, and prosperity for the nations."

Participating in the Exchange, Vietnam has military bands, including: Army Ceremonial Band, Navy Band, Air Defense-Air Force Band, Military Bands of military regions and corps, and People's Public Security Ceremonial Band.

The exchange also had the participation of international military bands: Royal Cambodian Army, Chinese People's Liberation Army, Lao People's Army, Malaysian Army, Myanmar Army.

In his opening speech, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, emphasized that the Military Music Exchange is not only an artistic playground but also an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and friendship between armed forces and between countries in the region and around the world.

The music and performances of military bands from various countries are messages of love for peace, cooperation and sustainable development; they are the thread connecting the hearts of soldiers, who always aspire to build a peaceful and prosperous world.

With the honor of the host country, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia expressed his belief that the Exchange will contribute to further strengthening the solidarity, friendship and cooperation in the cultural field between the Vietnam People's Army and the armies of countries in the region and the world. This is also a valuable opportunity for delegates to visit and learn more about the country, people and traditions of the heroic Vietnamese nation.

Within the framework of the Exchange, 180 musicians from various countries performed four works together: "Dien Bien Victory," "Marching to Saigon," "Victory March," "As if Uncle Ho were here on the day of great victory." In addition, there were separate performances by military bands./.
