On the evening of August 5 (June 19 of the lunar calendar), the opening ceremony of the Fishing Festival of Phan Thiet City fishermen in 2023 took place. Attending were comrades Duong Van An - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Minh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of Phan Thiet City and many people and tourists.
The Fishing Festival of Phan Thiet City is a traditional festival, still solemnly and respectfully organized by the people. After being organized in 2007 at the city level, this year the festival was organized again.
Mr. Le Van Chon - Vice Chairman of Phan Thiet City People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Cau Ngu Festival 2023 said: The festival has a very meaningful regional identity, praying for calm seas, boats returning full of fish and shrimp, and a happy and prosperous life for fishermen. In particular, this year Binh Thuan hosts the National Tourism Year, so the image of the festival contributes to promoting Phan Thiet homeland to domestic and foreign tourists. At the same time, it contributes to preserving spiritual and religious cultural values, promoting the beauty of community culture in modern life and becoming a unique cultural meeting place for tourists who want to learn and experience the life of local people.
The festival includes the ceremony and the festival. The main ceremony starts from August 6-8, 2023 (June 20-22 of the lunar calendar) at Van Thuy Tu (Duc Thang ward, Phan Thiet city). The route from Hon Lao to Con Cha estuary parades on Ca Ty river and along Pham Van Dong and Ba Trieu streets to Duc Thanh relic site to pay respect to Uncle Ho and report achievements; along Trung Nhi, Trung Trac and Ngu Ong streets back to Van Thuy Tu. After welcoming him back, the Van Thuy Tu worshiping committee conducts the first announcement ceremony, the death anniversary and the spirit worship at Van Thuy Tu Palace, praying for national peace and prosperity, and abundant crops. Next is the lantern launching ceremony on Ca Ty river.
The festival takes place on Trung Trac Street, from Tran Hung Dao Bridge to Phan Thiet Fishing Port and on Ca Ty River. It includes a fair, exhibition, and food stalls introducing fresh and dried seafood specialties, fish sauce, handicraft souvenirs; specialty green rice cakes and Phan Thiet culinary culture; commercial stalls of household, industrial, and agricultural products... starting from August 1; amateur music programs, street music, and folk art games of Ngu Quang fishermen...
Right after the opening drum beat is the art program praising "The country and people of Phan Thiet - Binh Thuan" and the Bai Choi singing festival.
