The opening night art program connects the past and present of Phuoc Tich

The festival is held in Phuoc Tich ancient village. A typical Vietnamese village in the Central region. Over 500 years, through wars and natural destruction, the architecture of Phuoc Tich ancient village has preserved almost intact its original beauty in the life of Vietnamese villages. It is a peaceful and quiet space, with charming scenery with banyan trees, ferry, communal house yard... With these advantages, Phuoc Tich ancient village is an interesting and attractive tourist destination for visitors from all over the world.

The 2024 “Ancient Village Fragrance” Festival is organized to continue to spread and recreate the cultural space with community-based activities, honoring cultural and historical values; introducing and promoting the unique values ​​of Phong Dien land and people, attracting people and tourists to participate and respond.

Coming to “Hương cũ lang cổ” in 2024, visitors will be introduced to traditional handicraft products of craft villages, agricultural products, specialties and OCOP products, such as Phuoc Tich pottery, My Xuyen sculpture, Pho Trach palm mattress, Van Trinh net weaving, Phong My bamboo shoot sauce, Thanh Tan conical hats, etc.; enjoy artistic photos introducing the image and people of Phong Dien.

"The ancient village fragrance" in 2024 brings attractive festival parts, with folk games, such as blindfolded duck beating, blindfolded duck catching, tug of war, bringing water to the village, sack jumping, slow bicycle racing...; competitions, such as making traditional cakes, arranging fruit trays, blindfolded clay pot rice cooking, beautiful tea fences; experiencing and enjoying traditional local dishes at the "Ancient village fragrance" countryside markets.

Coming to the festival, visitors can also explore the ancient houses in Phuoc Tich, visit traditional craft villages by motorboat and bicycle; row a boat and SUP on O Lau River; sightsee, "check-in" lotus in Ha Tri Lake... Notably, in this year's festival program, there will also be the 3rd Phong Dien Half Marathon in 2024.

On the opening night of the festival, the public and visitors enjoyed a unique, lyrical and profound art performance; connecting time from the past to the present and looking towards the future; arousing traditional cultural values ​​of the land and people of Phong Dien in particular and the ancient capital of Hue in general, to work towards Phong Dien becoming a town in the future.

Previously, on the afternoon of August 24, the Project to Support the Ecosystem of Impact Enterprises in Vietnam to Respond to COVID-19 (ISEE-COVID Project) in collaboration with the Department of Planning and Investment of Thua Thien Hue organized the award ceremony of the painting contest "Lyricism in the Ancient Village".

The contest took place from June 30 to July 13, 2024, in the form of free-form painting in Phuoc Tich ancient village. During the organization process, the Organizing Committee received 47 paintings displayed on cushions made from sedge provided by the Organizing Committee.

The entries are rich in themes and diverse in styles. From paintings depicting daily life and beautiful landscapes of the homeland, to highly creative works expressing the author’s dreams and aspirations, with other aspects within the Pho Trach buffer zone and Phuoc Tich ancient village.

Through the contest, the aim is to explore the history and promote communication, promote the buffer zone of Pho Trach and Phuoc Tich ancient village; is an opportunity for the community to enjoy and appreciate the cultural and natural beauty of Phuoc Tich ancient village; thereby, promoting sustainable tourism here and creating favorable conditions for the development of social impact business organizations (SIB) in tourism in the area. This activity also contributes to raising awareness of the importance of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, encouraging the creativity and contributions of young artists.
