With an annual production capacity of 1.6 million tons of clinker and about 1.8 million tons of cement, Dong Lam has always focused on effectively using resources: raw materials from the mine, energy, water, waste products from other functional industries... to reduce the use of non-renewable resources, reduce the use of carbon-rich coal, reduce CO2 emissions, contributing to creating a green, clean environment at the workplace as well as around.

Dong Lam's production technology line is selected with advanced and modern equipment, dry rotary kiln with 2-branch, 5-layer heat exchange tower and advanced TTF decomposition chamber capable of making good use of low-quality fuel. Putting this system into operation helps save energy, create high-quality, stable products and protect the environment.

To use limestone resources economically and effectively, Dong Lam has optimized mining based on survey and inspection results to divide raw materials by area. With the investment in the PGNAA online raw material quality analysis system of Scantech - Australia, the quality of the mined limestone is tested with immediate results when transported on the conveyor belt to the factory, facilitating the mining stage, optimizing the mixing of raw material areas of the mine, helping to take advantage of the limestone resources.

The use of non-electric differential blasting method has helped to increase the efficiency of rock breaking more evenly, reduce oversized and crushed rocks, reduce explosives, expand the borehole network, reduce vibration effects, reduce flying rocks and air waves. The scale and method of non-electric differential blasting for limestone mining ensure the safety of nearby structures that need protection and do not affect human health.

In addition, Dong Lam has invested in modern, highly automated equipment in the processing and raw material preparation stages with a complete dust filtration system to avoid dust emissions into the environment. In addition, Dong Lam uses the automatic blending adjustment software Blendscan from Scantech - Australia by connecting the blending computer with the PGNAA online rapid analysis system and quantitative scales to produce clinker powder, contributing to improving the efficiency of resource use, stabilizing product quality and production efficiency.

Sustainable production

Mr. Ton That Tung Thanh, Director of Quality and Head of Laboratory - Product Quality Control & Technical Services of Dong Lam Cement Joint Stock Company, said that since the first days of operation, Dong Lam has implemented many environmental protection solutions; including equipping closed warehouses, installing bag dust filters, electrostatic dust filters to collect dust, ensuring that the dust concentration in exhaust gas meets national technical standards on industrial production emissions.

Dong Lam has also made many improvements such as using exhaust heat to dry the mill to reduce the operation of the auxiliary combustion chamber using DO fuel to reduce emissions and save costs. The unit has also implemented many experimental programs, notably the use of technological additives, active mineral additives, granulated slag, fly ash to improve the quality of cement products, reduce production costs, protect the environment by reducing the use of clinker in cement, contributing to reducing gas emissions due to the clinker smelting process, reducing the use of fossil fuels, helping other industries to handle waste, reducing environmental pollution.

In investing in new projects, Dong Lam invested in a NOx removal system in clinker kiln exhaust gas and put it into operation in 2021 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In 2024, the enterprise also started construction and is expected to put into operation in August 2025 a power station utilizing excess heat from kiln exhaust gas with a capacity of about 8,700kW, which will meet about 30% of the factory's electricity demand.

To save and effectively use water resources, and at the same time save costs on clean water used for production, Dong Lam plans to deploy the use of drained water from limestone mines, process it and bring it back to the factory for reuse in production.

Mr. Ton That Tung Thanh affirmed that, with a deep awareness of the significance of environmental protection, with the production characteristics having stages that generate dust, noise..., Dong Lam pays special attention and puts the work of ensuring occupational safety and hygiene first. Dong Lam has applied the quality management system according to ISO 9001:2015, the environmental management system according to ISO 14001:2015 and the laboratory management system according to ISO/IEC 17025:2017; applying and ensuring the effective operation of the management systems.

Dong Lam has also invested in systems for treating and collecting wastewater, exhaust gas, solid waste, etc., as well as infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment to limit and prevent the emission of polluting waste. Up to now, the enterprise has planted trees to cover the entire factory campus, forming “soft” green belts, contributing to creating a clean, safe, and efficient working environment.

During its operations, Dong Lam always focuses on training, coaching, and propaganda to raise awareness of compliance with regulations on occupational safety and hygiene and environmental protection. Thanks to the establishment, maintenance, and effective development of a system of activities in environmental management, Dong Lam always controls and minimizes the impact on the environment, landscape, and people's lives, ensuring the highest level of occupational safety and health for workers.
