Mobilizing many leading experts on heritage
Decision No. 1566/QD-UBND of the Hue City People's Committee clearly states the establishment of a Council to assess the status and propose plans for preserving and restoring the Nguyen Dynasty throne (referred to as the Council), based on the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage, the Government's Decree and the unified document from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The Council consists of 14 members who are leading experts in the fields of heritage, museums, preservation, restoration of artifacts and cultural management.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, was assigned to serve as Chairman of the Council. The two Vice Chairmen of the Council include Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue City Department of Culture and Sports, Member of the National Cultural Heritage Council, and Mr. Pham Dinh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism .
The Council also had the participation of many famous scientists such as: Dr. Nguyen Van Doan, Director of the National Museum of History; Mr. Pham Quoc Quan, former Director of the National Museum of History; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa, former Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Thua Thien Hue (former); Mr. Phan Tien Dung, Chairman of the Hue City Historical Science Association.
Also present were Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong Thom, Head of the Preservation Department, National Museum of History; Ms. Huynh Thi Anh Van, Former Director of the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum; artisan Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, restoration and preservation expert of the Time Cabinet Company; Mr. Ho Huu Hanh, Director of the Hue Monuments Restoration Joint Stock Company; Mr. Ngo Van Minh, Director of the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum.

The Council Secretary is Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, Head of Cultural Heritage Management Department, Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City.
According to the decision of the Hue City People's Committee, the Council's main task is to assess the level of damage and current condition of the Nguyen Dynasty throne, thereby proposing a preservation and restoration plan appropriate to the special nature of the artifact - a national treasure.
After completing its tasks, the Council will dissolve itself. The Council's operating expenses will be implemented according to current regulations.
The decision clearly states: Chief of Office of the City People's Committee, Directors of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Finance, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and related members are responsible for implementing this decision.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed in principle and sent people to participate.
Previously, on May 29, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Document No. 2389/BVHTTDL-DSVH to the People's Committee of Hue City, agreeing on the policy of establishing the above Council, and at the same time sending a number of professional staff to participate in the Council.

The document signed by Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong stated: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism received Official Letter No. 6495/UBND-CN from the People's Committee of Hue City on the establishment of a Council to assess the status and propose a plan to preserve and restore the Nguyen Dynasty throne. Pursuant to Clause 4, Article 55 of the 2001 Law on Cultural Heritage, the People's Committee of Hue City has the authority to establish a Council to carry out this task.
The Ministry proposed a leader of the Hue City People's Committee to hold the position of Chairman of the Council and agreed with the list of personnel proposed by Hue City. The Ministry also sent three experts from the heritage sector to participate in the Council, including: Mr. Pham Dinh Phong, Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage; Dr. Nguyen Van Doan, Director of the National Museum of History; and MSc. Nguyen Thi Huong Thom, Head of the Preservation Department, National Museum of History.
Previously, on May 24, the Nguyen Dynasty throne - located in the center of Thai Hoa Palace, was violated by an intruder.
The establishment of the Council of Experts, with the participation of managers, leading scientists, restoration artisans and relic restoration units, is expected to help Hue soon have appropriate and scientific solutions to restore the original state of the throne - a symbol of supreme power of the Nguyen Dynasty and one of the national treasures currently preserved in Hue.
