Dak A Sel village currently has 109 households, with the Bahnar people accounting for more than 90% of the population. For generations, the villagers have preserved and maintained many fine traditional customs, unique festivals and ceremonies, including the “Victory Celebration” ceremony.
Celebrating victory is a sacred ritual associated with the history of the Bahnar community in Dak A Sel village. It is also a symbol of the spirit of solidarity, bravery, and gratitude of the villagers to the gods (Yang).

The victory celebration took place solemnly according to traditional rituals. Among them, the buffalo stabbing was the most important ritual, expressing the highest gratitude of the community to the gods and reflecting the spirit of victory.

The ceremony is conducted by the village elders. Before the ceremony, the village elders go inside the communal house to drink wine and pray, preparing themselves for the ceremony.

At the ceremony, they recited the prayer in unison: Oh Yang! Yang mountain, Yang water, …..! The villagers invite the gods to come down here to receive the offerings, eat buffalo, eat chicken, drink wine with us villagers. During the past time, the Yangs have protected the villagers, given their sons good health, given their daughters good farming skills, overcome all evils, overcome natural disasters and epidemics, so that the villagers can have a good life, receive favorable weather, harvest good crops, raise many healthy animals…
After the ceremonies were completed, the gong team played cheerful and lively melodies. The beautiful mountain girls, dressed in traditional costumes, played the xoang dance rhythmically.

Along with that is the shield dance of the Bahnar boys with strong and decisive movements, expressing the spirit of celebrating victory.
This is an opportunity for young men and women to show off their talents and contribute their small efforts to organize a joyful event for the whole village when receiving the achievements of individuals or groups. In addition to improving the lives of the whole village, these brave young men also have the responsibility to protect the village to be peaceful, prosperous and happy.
At the end of the ceremony, delegates, tourists and villagers enjoyed jars of sweet and fragrant rice wine brewed by the Bahnar women in Dak A Sel village many months ago.

For the Bahnar people, the "Victory Celebration" ceremony is a ritual that not only shows the villagers' sincerity towards the gods, but also shows the solidarity between members, creating the strength of the community, the harmony between people, between people and nature and all things, meeting many other expectations from the daily life and production of the people from ancient times until now.
