Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Deputy Director of Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority, said that tugboat LA - 06695 has been refloated and brought to the shore of Ly Son. This is the second of three vehicles that sank in the waters of Ly Son on April 24, 2024 to be salvaged. Previously, in November 2024, barge LA - 06883 was turned back to its normal position and towed to the shore of Ly Son island. Currently, only the crawler excavator has not been salvaged.

“Currently, the crawler excavator is continuing to be salvaged. This vehicle was determined to be submerged at a depth of 60m, so the salvage work is facing many difficulties. The Quang Ngai Maritime Port Authority is urging the salvage unit to urgently complete the work, in order to promptly serve the investigation work of the police agency,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Minh.

As reported by SGGP, at around 4:00 a.m. on April 24, 2024, tugboat LA - 06695 belonging to Minh Linh Company Limited was towing barge LA - 06883, while traveling from Ky Ha port ( Quang Nam province) to Ly Son island (Quang Ngai province) when an incident occurred, causing the tugboat and barge to sink.
On May 19, 2025, Vice Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee Tran Phuoc Hien issued a document requesting urgent salvage of the vehicle involved in the accident in the waters of Quang Ngai province to serve the investigation of the case.
