Opening of Thai product showroom

Speaking at the event, Standing Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee Hoang Quoc Khanh said that in recent times, the economic , trade and investment cooperation relationship between localities and enterprises of Vietnam and Thailand has been developing well, many Thai enterprises have come to study and seek cooperation and investment opportunities in Lao Cai.

Up to now, in Lao Cai province, there have been 2 investment projects in the commercial sector of Thai investors including: Go! Lao Cai Trade Center Project and Go! Lao Cai Supermarket Project with a total capital of more than 17 million USD. Currently, Mai Anh Agricultural Cooperative and Quang Vinh Agricultural, Forestry and Construction Services Cooperative have brought 105 product codes in the group of fresh food items to Go! Lao Cai Supermarket.

Lao Cai province has organized many delegations to participate in activities in Thailand such as: Vietnam Goods Week in Thailand in 2022; Training course on the theme "Potential Leaders: Strengthening Partnership for Sustainable Energy" organized by the Thai Embassy in Vietnam in 2023. In contrast, many Thai enterprises participated in booths at the Vietnam - China International Trade Fair in 2019 and 2023 organized by Lao Cai province. The export value of Thai goods through Lao Cai International Border Gate reached nearly 42 million USD in 2023 - 2024, with a total output of over 50 thousand tons with main product groups such as durian and mangosteen.

The Standing Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee requested the Embassy, ​​Promotion Office, and Business Association to continue to pay attention and support promotion to attract Thai enterprises to explore opportunities and cooperate in investment, business, trade, and tourism in Lao Cai and the Northern Midlands and Mountains provinces. At the same time, he hoped that the Thai Embassy in Vietnam would coordinate with Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee to continue to establish a cooperation mechanism and exchange information on trade promotion programs held annually in each side; build a mechanism to support trade promotion programs in the two countries; create conditions for Lao Cai province to organize experience learning programs to develop and promote trade promotion and logistics activities in Thailand.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya - Thai Ambassador to Vietnam - emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand have a long-standing friendly relationship; today's event is an opportunity to fulfill the commitment between the two countries to always support and cooperate to promote economic, cultural and social development. The booths here not only introduce quality products, high technology, innovation, creativity, traditional handicrafts of Thailand and Vietnam but also have coordination between trade partners for further development.

This is the 4th time the Thai Ambassador has visited Lao Cai province and has a deep impression and love for local products. Lao Cai is not only rich in cultural traditions but also has a prime location, an open business environment as well as being located on a convenient traffic route, especially the border gate economy…

The Vietnam - Thailand exhibition area has 36 booths; of which, 20 booths are from Thai enterprises in Vietnam and from Thai corporations and enterprises such as: CP Vietnam, Central Retail, Thaibev, Amata VN, Thai Airways, Melia Hotel... Vietnam has 16 booths; of which 11 booths are from 07 provinces in the Northern Midlands and Mountains (Yen Bai, Cao Bang, Bac Giang, Lang Son, Thai Nguyen, Hoa Binh, Tuyen Quang); 2 booths of Musa Pacta One Member Co., Ltd. and 3 booths of Lao Cai province.

The booth “Lao Cai – Dynamic advantages and development” displays a number of images of tourism activities, industrial production, agriculture, border gate economy, logistics… and many typical products, OCOP products of Lao Cai province such as: Artichoke, Muong Khuong chili sauce, sausage, dried pork, Sa Pa salmon, tea, dried Tam Hoa plum, Ca gai leo tea bags, turmeric starch…

Through the organization of exhibition booths to introduce and connect businesses between localities, businesses of Vietnam and Thailand; create opportunities for localities and businesses to grasp information about the market, products and goods to connect when needed; strengthen cooperation and friendly exchanges between localities of Thailand and localities of Vietnam. At the same time, promote the image of Lao Cai to the people and domestic tourists; propagate and promote some potentials and strengths of socio-economic development of Lao Cai province.
