For the first time, visitors will be able to visit and witness the 106-year-old mansion - Bac Bo Phu (now the Government Guest House), a historical relic of the revolutionary autumn in the capital. This is an activity within the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024 taking place from November 9 to 17.
The Bac Bo Palace, now the Government Guest House (12 Ngo Quyen, Trang Tien Ward, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi) was built in 1918 in the ancient French architectural style. The Bac Bo Palace building has 2 gates at 12 Ngo Quyen and 2 Le Thach. During the French colonial period, this building was the Palace of the Governor of Tonkin. After the August Revolution in 1945, President Ho Chi Minh and the Provisional Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam worked here until the day of the national resistance. During this time, the building was renamed Bac Bo Palace.
Today, the building is the Government Guest House. During the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2024, the Bac Bo Palace will open to visitors for the first time.
The bullet holes on the front fence of the building were highlighted by artists, thereby emphasizing the historical vestiges of the 1946 Battle of Bac Bo Palace.
The Bac Bo Palace has three floors, including a basement, but only part of the first floor is open for visitors to visit and learn about the building through posters on the wall. During the days it is open to visitors, the Bac Bo Palace is always crowded with visitors from morning to afternoon.
Locals and tourists were excited to take photos and explore the nostalgic architectural space at Bac Bo Palace. Visiting Bac Bo Palace for the first time, Ms. Hoang Thi Mai (Cau Giay District) shared: "I was extremely moved when I stepped in here to visit and read historical documents. I felt the heroic historical spirit of the nation, especially when reading about the Bac Bo Palace battle in 1946".
Historical images related to the Northern Government. In the photo, President Ho Chi Minh received French General Lecletric at the Northern Government in March 1946.
The Northern Palace will be open to visitors until November 17.
