In celebration of the 204th anniversary of Peru’s National Day, the Embassy of Peru in Vietnam is organizing the second “Taste of Peru” Culinary Week in Asia. This is a series of culinary events taking place from July 9 to 13.
"Taste of Peru" is part of an effort to strengthen the friendly relationship between Peru and Vietnam through the language of cuisine, while also serving as a stepping stone to promote cultural exchange and introduce the rich culinary heritage of this South American country to international friends.
Following the success of the first event in Bangkok (Thailand), this event in Hanoi introduces the richness and diversity of Peruvian cuisine through the talents of chefs from the "Land of the Incas" who are currently operating and working at famous restaurants across Asia.

They are chef Abel Ortiz Alvarez (Hong Kong-China), chef Franco Aldana (Malaysia), chef R. Rodrigo Serrano (Philippines) and chef Pier Lopez Mendizabal (Vietnam).
At this Food Week, diners will also have the opportunity to enjoy many traditional Peruvian dishes such as ceviche, pollo a la brasa (Peruvian-style grilled chicken), anticuchos (grilled meat skewers), causa Limeña (Lima-style stuffed potato cake), papa a la huancaína (potatoes with huancaína sauce), lomo saltado (Peruvian-style stir-fried beef), ají de gallina (chicken with yellow pepper sauce), arroz criollo (criollo-style rice), solterito salad (solterito salad), picarones (Peruvian molasses donuts), suspiro a la Limeña (Peruvian-style custard), alfajores (caramel sandwich cookies), pisco sours (pisco cocktail), chicha morada (purple corn water), maca latte (maca milk powder coffee)...

The gastronomic week is also a unique opportunity to promote Peru’s world- famous cuisine, which was further confirmed when Peruvian restaurant Maido was officially named the World’s Best Restaurant 2025 in a list of 50 restaurants.
Peruvian Ambassador to Vietnam Patricia Ráez Portocarrero said that "Taste of Peru" is a window to the identity and cultural richness of this South American country, while strengthening the close relationship between the people of the two countries through the language of cuisine. On this occasion, the Ambassador emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen and promote bilateral cooperation between Peru and Vietnam.

On the Vietnamese side, Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van expressed his impression of the country and people of Peru. The Deputy Minister also affirmed that with the political determination and joint efforts of both sides, the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Peru will continue to develop, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.
In addition to the event promoting Peruvian cuisine at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake Hotel, the Peruvian Embassy in collaboration with Asia-Europe Vocational Training organized a technical exchange between chefs of the two countries./.
