When trips are no longer simply for relaxation, but become a bridge connecting people and nature, orienting tourism but you are still contributing to bringing positive changes to the environment, Vietravel has opened a new direction: both exploring nature and accompanying conservation projects. The journey to Tram Chim this summer not only takes you across the green canals, watching flocks of birds flying in the sky, but also brings a unique experience contributing to the restoration of habitat and regeneration of life for red-crowned cranes.

With Vietravel's support in the project " Bringing the cranes back ", every step you take is now not only a travel journey, but also a practical contribution to a sustainable ecological future.

1. Tram Chim National Park - A green gem in the heart of Dong Thap Muoi

Located in Tam Nong District, Dong Thap Province, Tram Chim National Park is an outstanding wetland ecological reserve in the Southwest region. With an area of over 7,300 hectares, recognized as the world 's 2,000th Ramsar Site, Tram Chim National Park is home to more than 230 species of waterfowl, 130 species of plants and dozens of rare species of fish, amphibians and animals.

Not only does it have biological value, Tram Chim is also a model of sustainable ecotourism, where humans and nature coexist and develop in harmony.

Characterized by a seasonal wetland ecosystem, Tram Chim includes primary Melaleuca forests, swamps, natural canals, reed grasslands and wild rice fields. This is an ideal environment for migratory birds to reside, breed and forage, while also playing a role in regulating the climate and protecting biodiversity in the Mekong Delta.

2. Red-crowned crane – Ecological symbol of Tram Chim

The Sarus Crane (Grus antigone) is one of the tallest and most beautiful birds in the world, a symbol of elegance and ecological sustainability. With its silvery-gray plumage and distinctive bright red head and neck, the Sarus Crane impresses not only with its appearance but also with its graceful mating dances during the breeding season.

There used to be hundreds of cranes returning to Tram Chim every dry season, but in recent years, the number of cranes has declined sharply due to changes in habitat - especially the reed grasslands.

Sarus cranes inhabit seasonal wetlands, where Eleocharis dulcis, an aquatic plant, is their main food source. As their natural habitat is altered by farming, drought, and pollution, Eleocharis dulcis has disappeared, and so have the cranes. Restoring Eleocharis dulcis habitats is therefore a key element in any conservation effort for this bird.

In order to promote sustainable values in each journey, Vietravel has been implementing a tourism development strategy associated with CSR at key natural destinations , notably participating in a number of activities of the project " Bringing the cranes back " at Tram Chim.

Not only organizing eco-tours , Vietravel plays a role as an active partner in providing technical, communication and financial support to restore the natural habitat for red-crowned cranes.

In addition to communicating to raise awareness of conservation, creating conditions for people to become “eco-tour guides” and long-term nature protectors, Vietravel also focuses on supporting practical and sustainable ecosystem restoration activities. Specifically, the company has coordinated with specialized units to implement:
  • Planting and protecting the area of sedge grass, to regenerate a clean food source - essential living conditions for red-crowned cranes to return to live and reproduce. Developing this native vegetation not only helps restore the natural life cycle of the cranes, but also plays an important role in maintaining the model of restoring the damaged wetland ecosystem.
  • Providing specialized water filters to ensure a year-round clean water supply for red-crowned cranes , especially during long dry seasons – when ecosystems are vulnerable to depletion and the risk of biodiversity loss increases. Water filters not only serve the cranes but also contribute to maintaining water quality in core habitat areas.
Through these actions, Vietravel affirms its pioneering role in developing tourism associated with corporate social responsibility, so that tourists not only enjoy their trip but also contribute to restoring the habitat.
