* Could you tell us how much damage the recent floods have caused to the province's agricultural sector?
- The recent flood caused severe damage to the entire agricultural sector of the province. Regarding livestock, it is estimated that about 3.2 million cattle and poultry were killed or swept away, causing damage of about 830 billion VND. Regarding aquaculture, the damage was particularly severe with 127,000/181,349 aquaculture cages damaged or swept away; along with that, 1,000 hectares of brackish water shrimp and mollusk farming were destroyed, causing total damage estimated at about 2,000 billion VND. Regarding cultivation, the whole province had about 180,000 hectares affected. Of which, more than 63,000 hectares of annual crops such as rice, cassava, corn, potatoes, etc. were flooded; more than 19,000 hectares of perennial crops, including many key industrial crops with high economic value such as durian, coffee, and pepper were severely damaged. The estimated damage value was about 1,500 billion VND.
It can be said that this is one of the natural disasters that has caused the greatest damage to the agricultural sector in recent years, directly affecting people's livelihoods.

In the recent flood, most of people's livestock and poultry died in the flood. |
*In that context, what urgent solutions is the industry implementing to restore production, especially in time for the upcoming winter-spring crop?
- The winter-spring crop is only about a month away, so the immediate priority is to repair the canal system, especially the North and South canals of the Dong Cam irrigation system. These are two vital routes that supply irrigation water to the entire region, so they must be restored as soon as possible.
We are directing units to review all production areas, identify each area eligible for planting to provide specific instructions. For areas that cannot be stabilized immediately, the industry recommends that people temporarily switch to producing short-term crops and vegetables to quickly restore income.
Cleaning up the environment in the fields after floods is also very urgent, because mud, garbage and animal carcasses, if not handled promptly, will greatly affect production and public health.

* Seed sources for production recovery are an urgent issue. What sources of support is the province proposing, madam?
- We have requested the State Reserve Department to support seeds according to Decree 09/2025. Currently, the industry is synthesizing specific needs to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Finance and at the same time report to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment for consideration and allocation. In addition, the department is advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue an open letter to corporations and enterprises of plant and animal breeds to mobilize emergency support. Some enterprises have responded very positively; some of them have agreed to support a total of about 15 tons of rice seeds. We are also working with large enterprises in the livestock sector to support poultry breeds, helping farmers to quickly restore their flocks after losses.
Thank you!
