Survey and work on opening and upgrading the Khanh Binh international land and river border gate.

On December 17th, a liên-ministerial working group led by Mr. Tran Van Thuy, Deputy Chairman of the National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited and worked on the opening and upgrading of the Khanh Binh international road and river border gate in An Giang province. Mr. Le Van Phuoc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of An Giang province, and leaders from various provincial departments and agencies joined the delegation.

The working group conducted a field survey of the Khánh Bình border area.

The delegation conducted a field survey at the Khánh Bình land and river border area. They also received reports on the current state of transportation and trade infrastructure, trade volume, socio- economic conditions, development orientations, projected impacts, key solutions, and difficulties and obstacles encountered in the process of implementing procedures related to the opening and upgrading of the Khánh Bình border gate.

Members of the working group exchanged views, discussed, and assessed the necessity and suitability of opening and upgrading border gates in line with the infrastructure investment development plan and the socio-economic development orientation of the border area of ​​An Giang province.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee Le Van Phuoc affirmed that the opening and upgrading of the Khanh Binh International Border Gate is an objective requirement, consistent with the development plan and practical needs of the locality.

An Giang province fully accepts the opinions of the inter-ministerial working group and will continue to review and complete the dossiers and procedures in accordance with regulations. At the same time, it will proactively coordinate closely with central ministries and agencies and relevant organizations to promptly implement the next steps when considered and decided by the competent authorities.

Deputy Chairman of the National Border Committee, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tran Van Thuy highly appreciated the proactive efforts and preparation of An Giang province in the past period; and requested the locality to seriously consider the opinions of the members of the working group.

The opening and upgrading of the Khanh Binh International Border Gate aims to complete the border gate infrastructure system, meeting the socio-economic development requirements of An Giang province and the Southwest region. This is also an important basis for expanding economic cooperation, attracting investment, developing international tourism, and consolidating and strengthening diplomatic and friendly relations between An Giang province and localities of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
