Aspiration to rise up and build Son La to be more civilized, rich, beautiful and unique

VHO - On the evening of October 10, at Tay Bac Square, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Son La province solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the founding of Son La province (October 10, 1895 - October 10, 2025).

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Vice President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Ms. Tong Thi Phong, former member of the Politburo , former Permanent Vice President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, former Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee; representatives of central ministries and branches; delegations of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam and the provinces of Luang Nam Tha, Hua Phan, Phong Sa Ly, U Dom Xay, Xay Som Bun, Xieng Khouang, Bo Keo, Luang Prabang, Lao People's Democratic Republic; representatives of provinces and cities.

On the side of Son La province, there were Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Lo Minh Hung, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; former leaders of Son La province through the periods; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces, Heroes of Labor; representatives of departments, agencies, units; communes and wards; representatives of corporations, enterprises, investors inside and outside the province; officers and soldiers of the armed forces, a large number of people of all ethnic groups and tourists.

At the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Quoc Khanh, Secretary of Son La Provincial Party Committee, highlighted the history of formation, construction and development of Son La province over the past 130 years. On October 10, 1895, Son La province was officially established with the original name of Van Bu province, and in 1904 it was changed to Son La. Over the historical periods, Son La province has continuously developed and has achieved great achievements in all fields of economy, society, national defense, security, political system building and foreign affairs of the Party, especially in nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, deploying the 2-level local government model towards being close to the people, serving the people better. The great achievements have always been associated with the wise leadership of the Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh; the attention, leadership, direction, and support of the leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, central ministries, branches, and localities nationwide for Son La throughout the process of construction and development; the constant efforts of cadres, party members, and people of all ethnic groups in the area.

The Secretary of the Son La Provincial Party Committee called on all cadres, party members, soldiers and people of all ethnic groups in the province to promote revolutionary traditions, uphold patriotism, self-reliance, and the aspiration to continue building the homeland and country to become increasingly prosperous and strong, worthy of the expectations and trust of the Party, State and people, contributing with the whole country to build and firmly protect the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization".

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Le Minh Hoan, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, acknowledged, praised and congratulated the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province through generations for the meaningful achievements they have achieved. Over 130 years of construction and development, Son La province has made strong changes from a poor province, striving to become a bright spot in the northern midlands and mountainous region, holding an important position in terms of economy - society, national defense and security of the Northwest region, especially in developing fruit trees on sloping land, writing a story of change from a poor land, becoming a symbol of aspiration to rise up.

With the revolutionary tradition, 130 years of establishment, the spirit of solidarity, patriotism, diligence, and overcoming difficulties, the Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province will gain many great victories in the cause of socio-economic construction and development, firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland, contributing to building a prosperous, happy, and powerful socialist Vietnam.

On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the province's founding, the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Son La province were honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal from the President for their outstanding achievements in fruit tree development, contributing to the economic and social development of the Northwest region and the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland. Son La Provincial Party Secretary Hoang Quoc Khanh and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Lo Minh Hung were honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President.

After the ceremony at the anniversary, a special art program took place with the theme "Son La's heroic spirit reaches far and wide with the country", with the participation of many famous artists and 1,200 mass actors, Thai Xoe artists and mass forces in Son La province.

Within the framework of the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the founding of Son La province, from October 8-10, a series of special activities took place such as: Literary and artistic composition contest with the theme "Son La 130 years of formation and development"; groundbreaking and inauguration of a number of major works and projects of Son La province; organization of the Cultural Festival of Son La province's ethnic groups; display of booths introducing achievements in socio-economic development; tourism products, safe agricultural products, OCOP products of Son La province; Thai Xoe Art Festival; performance of excerpts from festivals or traditional rituals of Son La province's ethnic groups; competition of traditional sports; competition of displaying and introducing agricultural products of localities...

The 130th anniversary of Son La province's founding is a grand event to honor the heroic and glorious history, and an occasion to affirm the province's strong and sustainable development in the process of innovation and integration.
