When will Ngo Quyen route connecting to North - South expressway be put into operation?

At this time, Minh Ngoc Construction Investment Company Limited is still implementing the construction of Ngo Quyen Street - Provincial Road 550 connecting from the old Ha Tinh City, now Tran Phu Ward and Thanh Sen Ward, Ha Tinh Province, to the expressway intersection with Provincial Road 550 in Luu Vinh Son Commune, old Thach Ha District, now Toan Luu Commune.

The 5km-long Ngo Quyen - Provincial Road 550 route is an important traffic route connecting the North-South Expressway with the old Ha Tinh City. The route starts at the intersection of National Highway 1 with Ngo Quyen Street, and ends at the expressway intersection with Provincial Road 550. Construction will begin at the same time as the commencement of the 3 expressway component projects in the 2021-2025 period through Ha Tinh - January 1, 2023.

However, while the three component projects of the North-South Eastern Expressway in the 2021-2025 period with a total length of 102.38km have been opened and put into operation, the 5km connecting route has not yet been completed.

Engineer Nguyen Dinh Giang - Commander of Minh Ngoc Construction Investment Company Limited said: Up to this point, the main connecting route has been basically completed. However, due to the emergence of some additional construction items on the route, the project, although technically opened to traffic more than a month ago, has not yet been able to be handed over and put into operation.

Currently, at both ends of the route, the contractor has dumped large mounds of soil to block traffic, mainly trucks or heavy-duty vehicles. Explaining this, the contractor said that if not blocked, there would be a lot of trucks carrying construction materials, while the route has not been put into operation, leading to the potential risk of traffic accidents.

However, there are still small paths between the mounds of earth, allowing people and some primitive vehicles such as bicycles and motorbikes to circulate.

According to engineer Nguyen Dinh Giang - Commander of Minh Ngoc Construction Investment Company Limited, the unit is currently focusing on completing the connection between the road connecting to National Highway 1 and constructing the connecting road in the Cay bridge area. If the weather is favorable, the project can be handed over to the locality for operation by the end of September or early October. In the case of the latest, the construction must be completed by mid-October.

On the highway connection route, there are many intersections with existing local roads.

The route has 2 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motorized vehicles.

Along with the expressway connecting route, the provincial road 550 - Ham Nghi extended road project is a parallel route of the North - South expressway in Ha Tinh city.

The 4km long parallel expressway route starts at the intersection with the extended Ham Nghi road (Thach Dai commune, old Ha Tinh city, now Ha Huy Tap ward, Ha Tinh province), and ends at the expressway intersection with provincial road 550 (Luu Vinh Son commune, old Thach Ha district, now Toan Luu commune, Ha Tinh province).

The project was implemented by Corporation 319 ( Ministry of National Defense ) from the beginning of 2023. Up to now, the parallel highway route in Ha Tinh has also been basically completed.

Although it has not been handed over and put into operation, the contractor has allowed traffic to circulate. However, traffic on the highway parallel road is quite low. Part of the reason is that the extended Ham Nghi road - the intersection with the parallel road - has not been completed yet.

Major Tran Dinh Ngan - Company 319 of the Ministry of National Defense said: The unit is implementing steps to hand over the project to the locality for exploitation. By mid-October 2025 at the latest, the project handover procedures will be completed.

When put into operation, the connecting and parallel route will help reduce the load on Provincial Road 550, making traffic from the old Ha Tinh City, now Thanh Sen Ward, Tran Phu Ward, Ha Huy Tap Ward and surrounding areas to the North-South Expressway more convenient and easier.
