Commencement of construction of social housing area of more than 2,500 units

On May 28, Hai Phong City People's Committee and Saigon - Hai Phong Industrial Park Joint Stock Company held the groundbreaking ceremony for the social housing area of Trang Due Urban Area - Commercial Services and Workers' Housing project in Le Loi commune, Quoc Tuan commune, An Duong district, Hai Phong city.

Delegates pressed the button to officially start the project.

This is an important project to meet the urgent need for developing social housing projects, ensuring housing for workers as well as solving the problem of stabilizing human resources for manufacturing enterprises.

The investor directly invests in the construction of social housing with a scale of 2,538 units (10 15-storey apartment buildings) on a land area of 31,369 m2; construction floor area of about 176,886 m2 (including above-ground floor area of 156,828 m2, basement floor area of 20,058 m2), population size of 9,137 people.

The total investment of the project is over 1,594 billion VND. In which, the technical infrastructure on the land with items: Traffic roads, water supply, drainage, electricity supply, lighting, fire prevention and fighting, flower and tree gardens are invested synchronously and connected to the general technical infrastructure system of the Trang Due Urban Area - Commercial Services and Workers' Housing Project.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tho, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee, said that Trang Due Industrial Park currently has 113 domestic and foreign investors operating and is the workplace of over 50,000 workers. Therefore, the demand for workers' housing is very large.

Previously, on April 3, the Prime Minister issued a Decision approving the social housing project for low-income people and industrial park workers in the 2021-2030 period, in which Hai Phong City was assigned by the Prime Minister the target of developing social housing and worker housing in the 2021-2030 period of 33,500 units (15,400 units in the 2022-2025 period, 18,100 units in the 2026-2030 period).

The social housing project in Trang Due Urban - Commercial Service and Workers' Housing Area in An Duong district is the third social housing project to be started in Hai Phong city since the beginning of 2023.

In the coming time, Hai Phong will continue to promote the implementation of social housing projects, especially housing for workers, determined to complete the investment and construction of 33,500 social housing units before 2030, exceeding the plan assigned to the city by the Prime Minister in the Project to invest in the construction of at least 1 million social housing units for low-income people and industrial park workers in the period of 2021-2030.
