This is a traditional sports activity with profound educational significance, aiming to encourage young people in schools to actively exercise, improve their health, develop physical strength, and at the same time enhance patriotism and national pride, contributing to the goal of comprehensive education of "Morality - Intelligence - Fitness - Beauty" for students.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Phu Dong Sports Festival, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People's Committee, said: This year's Phu Dong Sports Festival has more than 1,720 athletes, representing thousands of high school students in the city. These are outstanding students who have undergone training and competition and were selected from the Phu Dong Sports Festival at school and district levels. The city's leaders believe that by promoting the results they have achieved, they will be calm, confident, and strive to compete with the sports spirit of "Unity - Honesty - Nobility", achieve the highest results and be willing to share experiences for mutual development.

The 2023 Can Tho City Phu Dong Sports Festival will take place from June 19 to June 25. The participating athletes are students studying at primary, secondary, high schools and multi-level public and non-public schools. Participating in the Phu Dong Sports Festival, athletes will compete for 552 sets of medals in 8 events: Swimming, football, table tennis, chess, pole pushing, Karatedo, Taekwondo and Vovinam.
