NDO - The 2nd Smart City Microchip Design Competition has officially been launched to promote creativity, search for and develop talents in the field of microchip design across the country.
On December 18, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park coordinated with relevant units to announce the 2nd Smart City Microchip Design Competition in 2024.
The highlight of this year's competition is the expansion of the organization scale, with the main coordination between three cities: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang City.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, said that recently, the Government has paid special attention to promoting investment cooperation, developing the semiconductor industry, and promoting the development of action plans and strategies to develop this industry.
Specifically, the construction of a human resource development project with the goal of 50,000 engineers for the semiconductor industry by 2030.

According to Decision No. 3686/QD-UBND dated September 6, 2024 of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City on Approval of the "Program for Development of the Microchip Industry in Ho Chi Minh City at the High-Tech Park for the period 2025-2030", in which the task group on training and developing human resources for the semiconductor microchip industry is a key task.
Therefore, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park continues to promote the search and training of microchip human resources, through continuing to organize the 2nd Smart Urban Microchip Design Competition, which is an important bridge to access and search for research projects to develop semiconductor microchip products from student and trainee resources nationwide.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Quoc Cuong, the second competition will bring valuable experiences to projects, students and trainees in learning and researching microchip design, through weeks of training to perfect products as well as listening to contributions from industry experts in the rounds: Idea preliminary round, Product completion round, Professional evaluation round and Final round.
In 2023, the first Smart City Microchip Design Competition created a big buzz in the city's science, technology and innovation community.
Thereby, the talents of student groups and resources are strongly promoted from the 3-house ecosystem (state-school-enterprise) in the competition, creating a new point and difference for the competition, which is the organization process focusing on training, incubation and completion from ideas to products.
