Unique values
In recent years, Quang Nam province (old) and Da Nang city have emerged as special destinations for museum tourism, although this type of tourism is quite "picky" for visitors.
The unique feature that makes many museums in Quang Nam leave an impression on visitors is the positioning of their own themes with in-depth exhibitions and experiences that help the public both enjoy and discover the value of the land.
The Cham Sculpture Museum (Hai Chau ward) has long been considered by experts to be the largest museum in the country on Champa culture.
Meanwhile, the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum specializes in preserving and promoting the artistic heritage values of the locality as well as the Central region.
In Hoi An, most museums are small in scale, but each museum contains unique knowledge in each field, making these destinations rarely empty of visitors. They are the Museum of Traditional Medicine, the Museum of Folk Culture, the Museum of Sa Huynh Culture, the Museum of Trade Ceramics, the Museum of Hoi An Local Products... (all in Hoi An ward).
Mentioning Quang Nam also immediately reminds tourists of the image of a land rich in revolutionary traditions. Da Nang Museum (Hai Chau Ward) and Quang Nam Museum (Ban Thach Ward) are two destinations that deeply convey this theme to the public.
In addition, some museums located in tourist destinations also attract a large number of visitors and admirers such as: My Son Museum (My Son Temple Complex), Wax Statue Museum (Ba Na Hills Tourist Area)...
Attracting customers
In the first half of this year, museum tourism activities in Da Nang city continued to create new marks.
Opened to visitors at its new facility (42 Bach Dang Street) since April 1, the Da Nang Museum has created a "fever" among the public with its eye-catching design and captivating storytelling that combines modern technology and traditional decoration.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, interim Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, commented that the Da Nang Museum is one of the museums in Vietnam that has deployed Al very well to serve tourists. This can be considered one of the largest museums in the Central region not only in terms of investment scale, space or artifacts but also in terms of applying technology very appropriately and effectively.
In the first 6 months of the year, this museum welcomed nearly 130 thousand visitors (up 122% over the same period). Other museums in the old Da Nang city also had good growth. The Museum of Cham Sculpture welcomed nearly 115 thousand visitors (up 10% over the same period), and the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum welcomed more than 25 thousand visitors (up 68% over the same period).
Meanwhile, the new feature of the thematic museum system in Hoi An is the opening of the Hoi An Local Products Museum (December 2024). By conveying the rich knowledge of the medicinal treasure of Quang region as well as the bustling medicinal trade route in the past, this museum quickly attracts visitors, especially foreign visitors.

Over the first 6 months of the year, museums and relics in Hoi An Ancient Town directly managed by the Hoi An Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation Center welcomed more than 867,000 visitors (an increase of 20% over the same period last year), including more than 810,000 international visitors.
Mr. Pham Phu Ngoc, Deputy Director of Hoi An Cultural Heritage Management and Conservation Center, said that in order to keep museums fresh, especially for the local community, the unit regularly organizes experiential activities for students to better understand the beauty of local history and culture. These include: "Tet market"; introducing the process of making traditional jams such as coconut jam, ginger jam; drawing and decorating paper lanterns, stamping Do paper paintings, etc. Thereby, it has added vitality to the museums.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Trinh, Deputy Director in charge of the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum, informed that since the beginning of the year, the museum has held 8 exhibitions with diverse forms, including live exhibitions at the museum, online and mobile exhibitions. In addition, the museum has also launched the online exhibition space "DNFAM ONLINE GALLERY", marking a step forward in applying technology and artificial intelligence to museum activities to more effectively serve the public's need for cultural access in the digital age.
