(QNgTV)- A woman went on Facebook to find someone to sell otters to. While on the way from Quang Ngai to Hanoi to deliver the goods to the buyer, she was arrested by the police.
Ninh Binh Provincial Police said that the Investigation Police Agency ( Economic Police Department) has just initiated a case and prosecuted Tran Thi Hue (born in 1986, residing in Binh Son commune, Quang Ngai province) for the act of "Violating regulations on the protection of endangered and rare animals".
Previously, at around 5:00 a.m. on September 8, at the intersection of Mai Son Expressway - National Highway 45 in Yen Thang Ward ( Ninh Binh ), police inspected and discovered Hue illegally transporting a small-clawed otter.
At the police station, Hue confessed that she had previously bought this otter from an unknown man in the province for 7 million VND to raise at home. However, recently, because Hue no longer had the need to raise it, she went on Facebook to look for a buyer.
After finding a buyer, Hue discussed and agreed to buy the otter for 20 million VND. While on the way from Quang Ngai to Nuoc Ngam bus station (Hanoi), Hue was discovered and arrested.
Immediately afterwards, this rare otter was handed over to Cuc Phuong National Park, in coordination with the Vietnam Wildlife Conservation Organization, for health check-up and special care.
