Currently , it is the peak of the rainy and stormy season. Since the end of May 2025, there have been a number of widespread heavy rains in the province, including one death due to lightning in Yen Lac district. The weather forecast in the coming time will continue to be unusual and unpredictable, with an increasing trend in frequency and intensity.
In order to improve the capacity to respond to floods and natural disasters, the province has issued documents, requiring all levels, sectors and localities to deploy response measures; the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue (PCTT&TKCN) at all levels has been strengthened, each member is assigned specific tasks, associated with the responsibility of the head. Localities urgently review and update plans and solutions for natural disaster response according to the "4 on-site" motto.

The province currently has 452 dams, 447 pumping stations, more than 6,000 km of irrigation canals of all kinds and a dike system. The Department of Agriculture and Environment has coordinated with localities to organize training on flood prevention and control and dike protection for local forces; promote propaganda work and raise public awareness.
The responsibilities of each specialized management agency, local government and related forces are clearly defined according to the principle of "clear people, clear work, clear responsibilities, clear products, and clear completion time".
The direction and administration work must ensure unity, consistency, efficiency and flexibility, especially in the context of restructuring the local government apparatus.
Equipment and technical means for PCTT and TKCN work are also added to improve response capacity and ensure safety of irrigation works and dykes.
In 2024 alone, the province has installed 10 automatic rain gauge stations sponsored by the PCTT Community Fund; applied and exploited the website of the Vietnam Natural Disaster Monitoring System, Vrain, social networking applications... in implementing PCTT&TKCN work; invested in upgrading over 4 km of dykes from level III and above, completed the construction and upgrading of many key irrigation works and reservoirs.
Most recently, the Provincial People's Committee approved a key protection dike plan at Trieu De sluice (Km10+785, Pho Day right dike, Tay Son commune, Lap Thach district). The key protection command is located at the headquarters of Tay Son commune People's Committee, ready to activate response plans when a situation occurs.
At the conference to deploy the task of PCTT & TKCN in 2025, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong emphasized: All levels, sectors and localities need to continue to strictly implement the direction of the Government , ministries, central sectors and the province on PCTT & TKCN work. There must be no interruption in direction and operation even though the organization of local governments at two levels is being reorganized.
The Provincial Hydrometeorological Station improves the quality of forecasting, warning, and natural disasters; promptly and accurately provides hydrometeorological data to the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and the media for direction and management.
Press agencies in the province have increased propaganda and dissemination of knowledge on PCTT&TCKN to the people; promptly reflecting the efforts and proactiveness of units in this work.
Currently, the Irrigation One Member Limited Liability Companies have developed full disaster response plans for reservoirs according to regulations; removed obstacles at spillways, ensuring safe flood discharge capacity.
Pumping stations, drainage sluices, and flood discharge valves have also been tested, and spare materials and equipment have been prepared and ready for repair or replacement in case of problems. The information system to warn people in downstream areas when flooding occurs has also been reviewed and strengthened.
Faced with increasingly unpredictable weather developments, promoting the spirit of initiative, solidarity and creativity of all levels, sectors and communities, along with effectively implementing the motto "4 on-site" will be the "golden key" to protecting people's lives and property during the rainy and stormy season.
