"Digital space" - a place to nurture young authors

"Digital space" not only helps authors connect and learn from each other, but is also a place to discover and nurture new writers for contemporary theater.

From a small website with a simple interface, up to now, the electronic information page of the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Authors Association has become a familiar meeting place for hundreds of theater writers of many generations.

Add "professional light"

As Ho Chi Minh City's theater scene faces challenging changes in the digital age, the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Writers Association has proactively stepped out of the "safe zone" of traditional activities. The association has launched a specialized website for theater writers - a pioneering decision in the professional activities of playwrights.

Through the website, the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Stage Authors has successfully organized many in-depth seminars on script structure, stage conflicts, and reformed opera language, as well as discussions on contemporary writing styles, adapted scripts, and staged scripts of literary works.

This "digital space" also creates conditions for young authors to access articles analyzing and criticizing scripts, and interviewing veteran authors, thereby helping them gain more "professional light" to illuminate their creative journey. According to author Tran Van Hung - Head of the Creative Association, "digital space" is not only an open forum to share professional experiences but also a place for authors to connect and learn from each other.

Initial results

Through "digital space", many award-winning scripts from national writing competitions and campaigns have been widely introduced to directors and art units.

Since then, many scripts have been staged, promoted on news sites and performed on stages, such as: "Heaven's Gate That Day" (author: Nguyen Khang Chien, director: People's Artist Trinh Kim Chi), "Old Traces" (author: Nguyen Thanh Binh, director: People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc), "Revolution" (author: Le Thu Hanh, directors: People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau and Quoc Thinh), "Aspirations of Tomorrow" (author: Tran Van Hung, director: People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc), "Justice Like the Sun" (author: Vuong Huyen Co, director: Chanh Truc)...

The "digital space" of the Ho Chi Minh City Theatre Writers Association is gradually becoming a vivid data source for the activities of the contemporary theatre scriptwriting force. With many documents, professional articles, and theatre news updated and exchanged, the authors have introduced many domestic and foreign works to learn and gain experience.

With passion, professional responsibility and dedication, the Association of Stage Authors continues to be the fulcrum for Ho Chi Minh City stage in particular and the stage of the whole country in general to firmly step into the future, with stories written from love for people, love for the country and passion for art.

Insiders believe that the "digital space" of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Stage Authors not only maintains the passion for the profession but also acts as a midwife for new authors who dare to write about contemporary issues in the language of the stage. Many believe that this journey will continue to reach far.

As the stage is gradually transforming to adapt to the digital audience, the role of an electronic information platform becomes more important than ever. In that space, words are no longer on the page but are moving to links, posts, and even interviews and live-streamed discussions - where the stage is "retold" in the language of the times.
