The traditional horse race in Bac Ha district is considered a "unique" race in Vietnam.
The jockeys participating in the competition are real farmers from the highland communes of Bac Ha district, Si Ma Cai district, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province and jockeys from Tuyen Quang and Son La provinces.
This year's final round has 32 excellent qualified jockeys.
This year's tournament recognized the excellence of jockeys from Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province and Ham Yen district, Tuyen Quang province.
Besides, there are many new faces, with high determination, competing with all their might, bringing a lot of drama to the tournament.
According to Mr. Tran Hoang Tuan, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival 2025, the 18th Bac Ha Traditional Horse Race is the most successful tournament ever with the largest number of people and tourists coming to watch and cheer (estimated at about 20,000 people) and the best results. The annual traditional horse racing tournament of Bac Ha district is always an event that attracts many experienced horse riders from many localities across the country to participate, creating fierce and high-quality competitions.
In the coming time, the horse racing tournament will continue to be maintained annually to attract tourists to Bac Ha; as well as preserve and promote the unique culture of the highland people to domestic and foreign tourists.
The horsemen participating in the tournament are farmers from highland villages.
A large number of people and tourists came to watch and cheer for the race.
The fierce competition received enthusiastic cheers from a large audience on the field.
The first prize went to athlete Lam Van Thieu number 70 from Ham Yen district (Tuyen Quang).
The organizing committee awarded prizes to the outstanding athletes. First prize went to athlete Lam Van Thieu from Ham Yen district (Tuyen Quang); Second prize went to athlete Trang A Ma from Bat Xat district (Lao Cai); Third prize went to athlete Trang A Gio from Bat Xat district (Lao Cai) and Fourth prize went to athlete Nong Van Nghinh from Ham Yen district (Tuyen Quang).
